I am so disappointed in how these sofas are built! We just a had ours redone and the guy did a super great job! I do t understand why they don’t build their sofas and chairs in a durable fashion! Thank you for your video! Hope you have many more years of enjoyment!

Nice DIY solution - I repair leather furniture professionally and see a lot of Natuzzi's with this problem. Also in the backrests. They provided a minimal # of bands and they skipped a fabric deck cover over the webbing, which would have prevented the foam splitting. An alternative solution that takes more time but uses less new material, keeps the sofa lighter weight and may cost less: Release the seat leather, remove the leather and foam (sewn as one piece with pouches for the foam), tighten the webbing, add more webbing, cover with fabric, and re-assemble. There will be a lot of staples to pull, but 2 diligent people can do this in an afternoon. 1. Remove the dust cover, as you did. Pull all the staples you possibly can completely out and be sure to pound in the few that break off (they'll rip skin in a nasty way). 2. Unbolt the seat deck from the rest of the frame, like a bed, or remove the armrests if the seat and back are one piece. 3. Remove all the bottom staples holding leather to the frame, including the fabric tethers between the seats. Mark where these were /take photos for approximate location. If the seat and back are attached, you can usually leave the staples that hold the back of the seat material and just flip it up to remove the foam. 4. Remove the staples holding the elastic bands across the front and one side. Pull very tight and re-staple on the vertical surfaces of the frame, not on the top. Don't worry about losing elasticity, there is enough softness in the seat foam to be very comfortable. Use several staples on each so the webbing will have tension all across, not just the center. staples should approx 1/2" longer at a minimum so they will hold well. 5. Elastic webbing should be placed about 1/4" to 1/2" apart and be interwoven for long-lasting support. You can purchase more webbing (upholstery supply online or at larger fabric stores), or use non-elastic webbing from a home-supply store. 6. Cover the webbing with a layer of heavy duty, non-stretchy fabric. Pull smooth but not tight as you staple around the sides. Cotton/poly or all polyester is best for longevity. 7. Re-assemble. If the dust cover is in bad shape on the edges, replace at low cost at a larger fabric supply store or maybe from a local upholsterer. The main purpose it to prevent insects from colonizing under / inside of the sofa, so mend any holes.

thanks for the detailed instructions and welcome to the community Barbara. Do you have a link for our readers for the webbing, and recommended cloth material? We spent less than $100 on all our supplies on this effort. And two hours with a trip to home depot. We did add the weight of a sheet of plywood and the nominal weight of the foam.. I never considered that before. Much thanks!!!

Elastic webbing can be purchased online from an upholstery supply. Black is stronger than green. Or you can use non-stretchy jute webbing made for supporting coil springs - use the one with black stripes, not red. The fabric for covering the seat deck can be any non-stretchy heavy fabric like #12 cotton duck. A polyester fabric will last longer.

I am trying to emulate your instructions but am kind of stuck. I am hoping you can guide me. I have the couch on its back with the dust cover off and everything looks solid. No broken PCs. I confused where to go from here. The center cushion is sagging and crumbling

Ours looked just like this and I just added foam to it. It looks ok and feels all right for now. we'll see. The boards look like a better fix. I cut my foam with an old fashion electric carving knife. Worked great and didn't leave a mess.

Doing this rn with 3” foam from Home Depot and three 2X4s under each cushion. Worked good for the side I have done so far but it’s squeezing. Must be the screws. Maybe they need to be oiled
@CasaBacon21 күн бұрын
Hello Ian. What sort of foam can you purchase from home depot that is compatible with what we listed? Could be a one stop shopping experience vs ordering what we used? Never heard of oiling wood screws to be honest.

After 20 years that sofa looks terrific!!!!!. It just needs new foam to be the stiffness that you like. That sofa without motion is at least $10,000 at today’s prices. The pooling that you’re seeing with the leather is called visual comfort and it exists on new show room models as well for some styles. That was a design choice from Mr. Natuzzi. Glad it has lasted so long for you. I sell Natuzzi Editions but I do not speak for the company.

Could you have vacuum packed one or two pieces of foam the released the pressure after the board is secure. Maybe use solid wood for two.

My wife and I just lifted our black leather Italsofa up on the saw horses we just built . Were pulling the staples from the bottom dust cover. we have the sagging problem really bad in 1 section and arm rest near it. It's a about 7 foot couch. I'm looking in from the bottom to see if I can see why it's sagging like feels like you drop a 1 ft when you sit maybe its only 6 inches but still It's a throw a way now if I can't bring the thing back to wher eyou don't have a sink hole. I going to watch your video now se what you are doing with yours. At first look in the bottom I see like lawn chair strapping woven back and forth its green What are metal springs to expensive $ ?

Thank you for the video! I have a Natuzzi couch with two torn cushions from dogs getting on it. Otherwise it's in great condition. I've contacted companies for repairing the leather but the prices are $1000 and over and it doesn't help that the cushions don't come off. Do you have any suggestions or possible repair video on redoing the leather? Thanks!

Hello Shelley. Try mink oil. It's expensive but worth it. Avoid mink cream.

amzn.to/3LlRRDS this is what you want. Almost everything else they make these days is a watered-down version. This will last you a long time. I use it on my shoes. On my motorcycle leathers, and on the couch and the video. It really restores leather and keeps it from drying out

hello Andy, welcome to the community. We were really more interested in a simple, and inexpensive fix to a localized problem. this fix is years old (the video is originally from our Cannabis channel which is shadowbanned) and it has served us great for two years now. just saying. save your money unless you know your foam is bad. ours was fine, just the straps were shot.

you need some leather conditioner my man. Leather dries and cracks like skin if left untreated. I have the same couch and same thing, I bought it with my husband when we were married. I ended up getting more webbing straps and foam to fix the sagging.
