Thank you sooo much. This is exactly what I was looking for, for my Aiwa TX394 Super Bass Walkman. Hopefully it's just the belt and if I can find one. Liked and subscribed.

My first Walkman

Some people say you need a full sized tape deck to listen to a tape properly and have the best sound quality, as they have large capstan wheels to help with inertia, however in my experience this is not true at all, some of the best sound I've ever heard to come out of a tape was on a Sony walkman made in 1989, the wow and flutter was just incredible. Sony invented the walkman so they knew how to do things properly, and of course AIWA are made by Sony. also never clean any rubber parts with IPA otherwise this is what happens. it dries out the oils in the pinch rollers and causes them to crack and go rock hard.

I agree. Sony made great portables. Even if it's a cheap machine, as long as the person using it enjoys it, that's all that really matters.

Just bought an Aiwa HS-TA153. Works fine but I hope when it doesn't, the belt is that easy to get to!

I haven't found too many that are incredibly difficult to service. There are some, but Aiwa models tend to be pretty easy.

Where did you purchase the belt replacement for this unit? Is it a particular size? A purchase link would be helpful. Thank you so much for posting this video. It helps a lot.

I generally purchase generic belt assortments. They can be found on Amazon and eBay for just a few dollars and contain numerous sizes and lengths.

I have the same model here, but it is dead. There´s nothing appearing on the LCD. I know it´s a silly question, but, have you some clue of what can cause the walkman not to turn on, other than a broken connection to the batteries?

I would always start with the simplest explanation, which would be corroded battery contacts or a broken connection from the battery compartment. Then I'd look for broken traces on the circuit board or solder joints that have broken.

What type of screw do you use to unscrew?

I have an Aiwa TX591 and have such a hard time to prying it open. Have you worked on them before? I see 1 screw, which doesnt look like it does anything to hold it together. I removed it, then unclipped all the edges around it BUT it seems like there's something in the middle that's so together I can't even pull it apart. Any help? I can barely see the belt as i can only open it a little but it looks like it's in good shape, motor is moving but the belt is NOT moving.

I think that one screw which "doesn't do anything" is there to adjust the speed at which the belt spins

Sir, can you tell me the belt size of aiwa ta193, aiwa ta213 and aiwa ta186.
@VintageElectronicsChannel2 жыл бұрын
I don't have those specs, but most of the belt assortments available on Amazon or eBay will have one that works.

Are you a repairman for turntable as well?
@VintageElectronicsChannel2 жыл бұрын
I haven't done many turntable repairs. Mostly just cartridges and belts on those.

Interesting. Replacing the belt will eventually need to be done, as they deteriorate over time.

They definitely don't last forever. This one was easy compared to a lot of the personal stereos I've taken apart!

How to adjust speed of this aiwa?
@VintageElectronicsChannel2 жыл бұрын
I don't remember seeing a pot to adjust the speed. Next time I'm in the shop, I'll check to see if there's an adjustment.
