Repairing an SP-505 Audio Out

Thanks so much for making this!!! 🙏 I’ve had one for a few a years now that needs repairs and this is one of the very issues that have stopped me from using this beautiful unit. I also have barely responsive pads. Info on sp forums says use CRC Graphite Lube. Spray into a bag and then use a small brush to paint it on ONLY THE BLACK PARTS on the under side of the buttons. Some people use foil tape instead. I’m thinking I’ll try the graphite lube although I do have a big roll of copper tape that would probably work fine too.🤔 My last issue is the my Sample button is non existent. I can go into the settings and set it to use an external button which is ok. I planned on putting an arcade button in a 2x2 fx pedal enclosure for this but it sure would nice to find a replacement. Maybe I can send one of the other buttons from the unit to someone with 3D printed skills?

exelent video, i got a sp 505 with "please update preset files" problem, but no find a solution in anyplace, you have something for this trouble?

Thanks for watching 🙏🏽 Unfortunately, i’m not familiar with the “please update preset files” problem. I’m rather new to the sp505. My first thought would be trying a factory reset? Maybe the user manual mentions something like that

@@sumawav Yeah i try the factory reset any times, with midi and sm card , but not work, i wath in old france post something from reset bios , but not have idea to how make that , thanks for the atention bro!

@@TheBasurero I'm also having this same issue. Tried everything and it seems that the preset files are just missing with no way to obtain them. Roland says the product is no longer supported and doesn't help at all. Did you ever find a location with a copy of the preset files?

Hi @@justinwilson178 ,In Service manual when make test mode and get a message "Bad Block" is a ic29 error, a nand flash trouble, On that IC datasheet file this problem make a failure with try to send data because mark a block bussy or locked. My theory are When try to upgrade that chip no send all files and fail although it does not fully receive the update even if shows the message that the process is completed. In summary, you have to do a reset of that chip to eliminate those bad blocks, all this is my diagnosis based on the logic related to the information I found, if you know someone or some place where they know about nand flash components repairs, it could be the right thing to do. Another posibility is try the files of the SP 303 the manual say they are compatible. I recently bought one that does not turn on to repair, there arrived with its original memory and the files. Im cannot do it at the moment because used the ffc connections as a spare part for my 404, but if you want to try I can pass them to you by e-mail. I have the hope of solving it.
