Thank you Susan for the clear explanation. Is it possible to show how to do imitation cables by sewing stitches together? I suppose it is the same concept of what you did here. Thank you!

Hmm. Not sure I even now what that is. I have seen people use a piece of matching yarn to sort of whip stitch groups of stitches together, but not something I have done.

Susan Guagliumi thank you Susan for your response. Yes you are right, it’s a whip stitch to make imitation cables but I haven’t been lucky enough to find resources on line in a language I understand. You obviously do not need the imitation technique as you can make beautiful real cables on the machine with ease.

@@frankfurtberlin There are several versions of this in my first book, Hand-Manipulated Stitches for Machine Knitters. One done by stitching with a piece of matching yarn and another by lacing through an i-cord.
