G'day Sam, I used work for an engineering company where I was one of their welders. We would always have to heat the buckets before welding or the welds eventually crack. I would break out the oxy if I was you and get that area real hot, especially at the teeth of the buck before welding because that area does the most work, Also when doing big jobs like that you might want use different rod that you would push into the weld, not drag, also you should be getting used to the stick welder because that will put more heat into the job. Wonderful to see you again girl. Your one of the best.

Welding is such a zen activity. Now I know everyone watching has to add their 2 cents and critique your welding....and I'm no different so listen up!! (j/k 😂 😂 😂) Seriously though, the one piece of advice I'd offer is to push the weld puddle instead of pulling the weld puddle. Both push and pull methods are valid but most old school welders will tell you to push the puddle. Most importantly though is to keep practicing and have fun! 🤘🤘

is a stick weld on steel, stronger than a torch weld.?
@ewanstewart80112 ай бұрын
MMA Manual Metal Arc (stick) welding produces a far stronger weld than MIG Metal Inert Gas welding, if you don’t have access to a stick welder heating the parent metal as much as you can helps with penetration and thus weld strength 🏴👍🏻

You are right of course, but that approach (by a commercial welder) would probably have run at least $1000, and probably a good bit more. Might have been done a bit faster than the 10 hours Sam and pater took, but good welding and prep takes time. As they commented the digger is used for 'light work'. Looked the excavator up: at 40 tons not a light weight.
