Nice to see it back to full health. I have a 1998 Boxster that needed guides and chains. It's in mega good condition but still not worth a lot. A made the same decision and went for it, I also change the IMS, big end bearing and a piston while we had the engine out. £6.5k later and it's perfect. I don't regret it, it's minted and I am keeping it.

@@Project40Cars I've got a VW Scirocco that I bought for 7k a year ago, and since then I've spent another 7k fixing mistakes/shortcuts/cheap outs that previous owners had done that weren't detectable on test drive/inspection, as well as getting other components like the turbo back to an as-new condition. It's been a pain in the ass and I've questioned it so many times, but it is now absolutely sorted, like it just rolled out the factory, and the satisfaction I get from driving it knowing I persevered and got it to that level is indescribable. I imagine/hope you'll feel the same way.

@JamieWittGuitar The things we do for (automotive) love. It’s annoying when prior owners hide issues with their cars. I’m always upfront, as I can’t handle the stress of covering things up! Sounds like it’s going to be a mint Scirocco!

What you do with it? Detail it - the paint is full of swirls, the interior is scruffy - you say it's in good condition (and mechanically it might be), but it still looks a bit sheddy in your videos, sorry to say. Give it to a proper detailer - it will look so good you'll not want to either sell it or off-road it. But if you do the former, you'll be in 'first to see will buy' type territory, which is a good place to be.

Are you looking at a V8S or Turbo, bore score is less common on the turbos (which is why I got mine in the first place...supposedly more reliable). Make sure you to a before/after drive scan as the dealer may have wiped the codes before the test drive.

The Cryenne is looking really great ! Do a couple of nice drives, NC 500, south of France, Alps, also some UK stuff with great driving roads. And then sell it. Don't make it an off-road thing, that is for manky looking diesel ones, yours is so shiny and possibly very dear for repairing off roading made problems ! And make multiple camera setup for filming the trips, it could well be a couple of older mobiles, but with good mounts. With some click baity titles, your videos will be great and have good view count.

It sounds like you're convincing yourself that you've got a practically new car.... you don't. There are so many other things that can go wrong from sunroof leaks to control arms, modules and the list goes on, but on the flip side you'll have that with ANY used car. I would look at like this - you've paid a lot for a used car but A) its a Porsche so that's great [there are negatives here too , like you need to do the gearbox service along with the front and rear diff. service, make sure the cowl area stays free of leaves (it's not a Toyota that you can just get in and drive and slack off with the maint.)] B) it's now a well looked after Porsche C) you really like the car D) outside of a transmission failure (which are super rare on this car) you've repaired most of the main expensive problems that stop one from using the car and finally E) this particular car will be more rare and sought after as the years go by. Detail it yourself (lots of how to videos on KZbin and it's not expensive unlike the timing chain job and maybe get some new rims down the line and you're looking great. Don't overland it - you said it was gonna take you time to financially recover from that repair and overlanding is a money pit. Upgrade you head and tail lights and do a chrome trim delete instead as that's a far better way to blow cash, you'll feel better about the outside just like the audio upgrade made the inside feel better.
