This just has me more excited to get the 660 I ordered. Supposed be delivered tomorrow.

They are a great saw. I am sure you will love it.

Getting the minor parts fixed seems like the issues these saws seem to have . The fit and finish seems top notch. Be interesting to see how well they last. For the cost they seem to be popular. A small solid steel tube works great for removing springs in these saws.

This is why I like your vids so much, because they're honest as you include any mistakes you made & a brief description of where & what you did wrong! We all make mistakes everyday of our lives & the man who doesn't make mistakes can't do bugger all,, I collect & play guitars & thought I was a hoarder with 12 but you have even more chainsaws :-)

I have the farmertec 070 clone. I love it. Just had a small issue with it yesterday. The throttle hold popped out while I was milling a red oak. I haven't had a chance to investigate it but I'm sure it's a pretty simple fix. Great video bro. Keep em coming.

I like the Huztl saws. I built six now from kits and rebuilt three worn out saws for my boss. I kinda like the blue it would make thieves think twice about stealing them thinking there stealing a thousand dollar saw.

Hey! Cy that not being prepared stuff just gets worse as you get older! : ) : ) When I have a project on my assembly table I probably walk back & forth 10 times are more from my tool bench to table or parts shelves just to finish said project - It's like an adventure just trying to remember which step is next! Hahaha! So enjoy with no worries My friend : ) : )

I'm curious. How did the handle get damaged? Are they just fragile? Also, I'm curious about the weight of these saws. What's the difference between these two?
@v262246 жыл бұрын
i have a few little tricks for removing the chain break spring, push the handle forward so the break is engaged and there is less tension on the spring. then use a screw driver to lever the loop off the stationary pin closest to the carb. to put it back on do the same and use the screw driver to lever it forward..
@DIYwithUncleCy6 жыл бұрын
Funny I set the brake in the video then used a pair of Needle nose pliers to pull the spring off. Though if you look close I used them like a screw driver LOL. Really I did and pryied it off just as you mentioned. :-)
@v262246 жыл бұрын
@@DIYwithUncleCyool, I find the screw driver just has a much better profile.

I wish I bought the 660 yesterday but I'm a procrastinator and my work has been on hold for 1 1/2 week but will start back in the coming week. When I woke up this morning I had my mind made up to go ahead and when I went to Amazon I noticed the price had jumped $50.00. but I went ahead and ordered it. Reason why is a welder I looked at last year has climbed by $400 in just over a year so in my thinking I reckon I best not put it off. Just FYI y'all.

Nice video, thanks! If you could have only one of these two, which would you choose, G444 or G660? Which is your favorite of all your Holzfforma saws? Thanks in advance for your answers, I'm trying to decide which model to get.
@DIYwithUncleCy3 жыл бұрын
Well the 444 is lighter so if you are using a saw another like daily it would probably be the better bet. However if you are slabing with a chainsaw mill the 660 has a touch more power so would be the better choice in that case. Can't say I have a favorite, I just grab whichever saw I need for the job at hand. A lot of what I do requires only a small saw so my goto is usually the g255.

@McHoosier6 жыл бұрын
@@splittinnstuff6571 I just do the kits so I can change stuff as I need. I don't use the handle bar or the bar studs. I have used the seals but, I like the hyway ones better. The chain tensioner is a sometimes thing. I keep a couple on handle anyway. They are getting better.
@splittinnstuff65716 жыл бұрын
@@McHoosier I hear you, I'm just too impatient to build when I can get it prebuilt lol. I've just been replacing with better parts as stuff breaks. 10 tanks on mine so far with just the starter issues
@McHoosier6 жыл бұрын
@@splittinnstuff6571 I work on saw on the side. I have 2 loggers running kit saws with my upgrades. One now has 8 month on it now. The other has a cross mmws cylinder and a hyway pop up piston. Has 6 month both with no problems so far.
@DIYwithUncleCy6 жыл бұрын
The starter Housing was damaged in overseas transport, so I really cant say that its an issue that Farmertec is at fault for. I have busted a few starter housings on some of the saws I have owned, one was a classic and cost me a pretty penny to find and replace. I think the air inlet grid (for lack of a better term) on any saw is a weak point that if abused will break.

Wow, looks like Huztl took care of you. I bought my husband the G660 for Christmas and have had a really bad experience. I took pictures of the bad tensioner, 28" bar, and broken recoil starter. The saw had only 1/2 tank of fuel and had a problem with the oiler and choke lever. Hutzl refused to acknowledge anything. Three weeks with no customer service or concern for factory defects. I've filed a dispute and asked Hutzl for a return. They have also closed my online account. No need to close the account; didn't plan on a future purchase...

These saws are for people that know how, don't mind and enjoy repairing them. So for me, even if I spend $25-$50 on OEM parts here and there, maybe an hour or two of time, I wind up with a really nice saw at about 1/2 what the real deal costs. For me that's a WIN! It seems they shouldve taken care of you.

Looks like you may need to modify that in a different manner, have you access to an old 044 av? You can see how the original ones were made?

It is just like the one in an MS440 I did not modify it at all so I do not understand what you mean by "in a different manner" I am using OEM Stihl parts same thing I would put into a Stihl if it was needed.

just that the old style tentioners were made different and don't brake if you can find one they can be swapped out? The hutzl ones don't hold up to good. @@DIYwithUncleCy
