Also, In some torches ,You can replace the o-ring and Voila ! its done! Listo! All you need is to take aparte the brass valve, find a proper , (same size), o-ring and replace it!

General fix. Hell yes. Any sort of low pressure gas valve works the same. Clipper, butane iron, airport replicas, mini blowtorch like those things you use for soldering your horrid DIY plumbing. It's covert, but high value

if it is leaking out of the head it is the needle valve it is bent, broke or mashed and can not be fixed, save your life by replacing the torch altogether..

What if it’s popped out? I got a novelty gun lighter, plastic not very well made. Upon refilling it, the end point where you fill the gas has popped right out. I’d like to fix it so would appreciate your advice. 🙂

I had a feeling mine was leaking gas because if I leave it on the bench it always seems to be empty but with no site glass I’m not sure how to tell when it’s full or what the butane level is? any input appreciated. Thanks

i did all that replaced the oring and its still leaking im not throwing it away its a great torch. its a scorch torch alien anybody know how to dissemble it i believe its leaking from the flame adjustment at the top its a knob that turns. when i press on the knob from the side it leaks fluid i can hear it. i unscrewed the screw holding the adjustment knob but it will not pull off and i dont want to force it. id hate to throw it away just because of something simple to replace. anybody suggestions ?????

This unfortunately did not fix my torch. I've purged the tank and everything, but butane still spits out immediately when I try to fill my tank. Do you think my nozzle is. broken? I just got it, so that would be odd but I can't think of anything else.

Also be sure to take a filter and empty as much as u xab shake it empty it again and dump water all thru it jus to prevent fires trust me on this one i use to sell them for a year and a half jus recently left the company not even a month ago we have plenty of torches destroyed beyond repair

My butane gas torch blew out its brass tip. Luckily there was virtually no gas left in the tank so nothing and nobody was harmed. I am assuming that the torch should be thrown away as I am afraid that, if I just push the brass nozzle back into position (as I have done) and refill the tank, it might blow out again causing damage to person and property? Has anybody else had this experience?

You are referring to the tip only because the valve is screwed in. There will be an open cup if so. Nothing will happen but it falling off again. Thats why nothing happened. Because it only is press fitted so just falls off. Theres no pressure on it to cause any damage. But there’s not much you can do unless it holds well still so id buy another one unless you want it falling off every so often. I have one I just leave at home die to this. You can switch out the valve but you’d need an extra already. I have a bunch so it would be easy if not I’d buy another one.

i have torch that i can instal a butane can to, i can not push the little nozell of the can into the torch. i have done it before, when i first used it. it was fairly easy. i wanted to replace the butane can and i can not, question is "is my torch bad?/ i am not doing it right"

I'm a little late but I am compelled to comment/ask.... Maybe you're referring to a specific brand/model of torch? It was always my understanding that the ring (with the notches) around the valve was the flame adjustment. My experience has been that there is a +(plus) and -(minus) symbol stamped by the ring and also arrows which indicate the direction to turn the ring for flame adjustment. Perhaps this is a North American thing..?

Only certain brands. They don’t look like this they have a thin wall and a tiny pin refill valve inside it. This is just a valve itself just like vintage ones.

Quick question hopefully you answer my question. I have a used max flame torch I just started using and I recently refilled it and now it won't ignite the flame. I will ignite it but not all the time you just hear a hissing sound coming from the top of the torch where the flame goes through. Is there any chance of fixing it or do I have to buy a new one thanks.

Sounds like the pizzo lighting mechanism has broken in which case it would be an a new torch or get an automatic torch lighter store.atthebench.com/product/electronic-automatic-torch-lighter/

So my torch survived the fire my former roommate started on purpose. Since the fire I have refilled said torch & it filled but then the next time I go to refill its spraying butane everywhere & none at all is going into the torch. I then see exact same torch & purchase it. There's a difference in how the refill ports look on each torch! What should I do?!?????? Btw the fire was in February 2023. I was not home & fire was only in his bedroom but should I toss my old torch or is it fixable?

The little black rubber oring? Your best bet is to get one out of another torch that you don't use anymore. I'm 99 percent sure they don't sell them that small by themselves unfortunately.

Tiny o ring down in around the valve stem. They fall out or get blown out sometimes. Cut a sliver of wire insulation and place in around that stem. Press it in with refill can tip. .. or cut length of wire insul about a half inch and stretch it around your filler can tip. Creat seal.

Or you can make sure its empty. Unscrew the valve nut more likely than not there will be an O ring. They get brittle cracked and squished carefully remove the nut. Some valves are threaded into the nut some are held in place solely by the nut and some are threaded into a stem internally. If possible remove just the nut. Ifcthere is an O ring remove and replace. If you cant get it out without destroying it get some plumbers grease. Very carefully apply tiny amts to the O ring. Make certain none gets into the tank or into the valve. If that hapoens you will eventualky have a stopped up lighter.if there is no O ring and youre certain the gas is leaking on the outside of the nut you can apply the grease to the threads of the nut with a pin or needle just enough to coat the threads tgen try to tighten into place. Purge the tank. Add a small amt of fluid and see if that solved the problem. Often times the leak is around the stem part of the valve. Using screw drivers etc to push the valve in is not ideal. Use a firm plastic or nylon if possible. If the valve is faulty and its an expensive lighter it prob has a warranty. Or you can but a valve relatively cheap. Last option is crap it and scrap it. Keep a cigar box full of lighter parts. Igniters etc. Every once in a while youll run across a cheap lighter that will have the same type valve system so you can swap o It out. The best thing you can do for pocket torches soldering irons etc is run the purest fluid you can find. Ronson will clog up a lighter begore you empty the can of fluid in it. Ive used Vector for years. Its 3 times higher in price but its like running fuel linjector cleaner through a lighter thats been filled with crappy fluid since purchased. There is a newer one called puretane it claims to be contaminant free 99.9% pure butane. The absolute best fuel ive ever seen is Lava. From new zealand i think. Settupple refined. First time i filled my blazer tank lighter id run colibre fuel in for years i nearly burned my face off. I filled with lava didnt think to turn the fuel level down. Sparked it and had a flame over a foot tall. I had hair 4' long. Not a good combo. I had to take all of my lighters apart and remove the fuel level lever and place it on the gear far from where it was factory set. I never had a lighter get clogged up when i used that fluid. Hope this helps

@@crisbowles411 often the valves eill have two. The outer one can be ysed as a spare if necessary. The trick to making them last is put a thin coat of plumbers grease or depending on the rubber lithium grease. The outer O ring often helps keep the valve stem from leaking a little bit. But if needed remove the outer ring then the stem and inner O ring. Use a pick if you cant roll the O ring off with your fingers. These parts a delicate. Depending on the type of lighter some have screens in the fuel valve tube. You dont want them falling out or getting out of order. Typically there will be one tiny one with a microscopic hole ,one or two fine mesh screens often a spacer with a larger hole in the middle and a felt filter. Tank lighters sometimes have those as the filler tube is connected to the jet. If you dont have a second O ring you should be able to buy some at a good auto parts store. You csn buy entire kits that range from 2" diameter down to oh my damn thats tiny size.

@@crisbowles411 one thing to be carful of is using butane with a metal stem. Try to use the plastic adapters that keep the metal from going over the valve stem and cutting your O rings and or jerking them out when you remove the can. I dont know thats what happened in your case but ive rebuilt so many lighters that were molested like that. Even blazers are subject to that. Eagle isnt too bad for the price. Stay way the hell away ftom ronson fuel in any of the jet lighters. It will clog up an expensive lighter just as quick as a crappy one. I wont use anything less than septuple refined. Although king brand has a quintuple refined that works well. Running undecuple if you can find it is like running injection cleaner thru one. Do not have your face anywhere near the top of the lighter if youve been running crap fuel and you switch to a high end one. 20 years ago i had a blazer tank id been running triple refined thru for a decade. I did regular maintenance and changed the screens out when it would get whimpy. My friend owned a head shop called Fantasy Imports or Freak Imorts originally. I grew up in the place. I was going thru catalogs and found Lava brand butane. Septuple refined. It was only a couple bucks per can more than the high end crap that blazer and others require for the warranty. I had adjusted my fuel lever several times over the years when it would not make a big enough flame. I filled it with lava and damn near did a richard pryor. I looked surprised as hell with one eyebrow and a foot of hair missing from one side of my head. After i got out of the burn unit i readjusted my tank and about 50 other lighters. It would literally throw a flame 18" if the lighter was on its normal high setting for most lighters. Ive stuck to the higher grades ever since then. No i wasnt really in the burn unit but i did look like fire marshal bill on in living color.

do you think sometimes this ring with the two slots in it for a flat head might also be used as a means of adjusting the amout of fludid that gets relaeased duiring use of the torch? sort of a coarse adjustment? with a mechanism that limits its range? i have a good quality torch and another one that neither have a fuel level adjustment. only way to do it is with this ring
