As a black revert I experience this sort of thing often to be honest I wear the hijab and rarely get a Salam back and I love in the US so I get stares from non Muslims so yes its definitely a test of faith

As a Pakistani muslim female .. I sincerely apologise to any reverts or born muslims outside our community who felt we did them wrong .. i married a revert despite my family saying no .. had they given me a valid reason .. id always have considered their opinions.. but do not come to me with cultural/unislamic reasons .. my culture is food language clothes literature arts history etc .. not backward traditions .. lets make a distinction please .. im proud of my culture .. some of the traditions need to be left in Pakistan.. (i.e only marry Pakistani spouse) how are u coming to this diverse country..full of muslims from all kind of beautiful backgrounds and going to say no to marriage because theyre non paks..black..white .. diff caste .. etc

You're not proud of your culture when you've decided to build with someone outside of it. Passing on the genes of a white man, saying that you love your culture, nobody buys it sister, I don't think even you do.

I kind of relate to the woman. I was born into an Albanian Muslim household, and am usually questioned by non-European Muslims about my faith, in quite a rude way. They either refuse to believe I’m a Muslim, or ask me stupid questions like “What are the five pillars?” and “How many rackats a prayer in Salah?” to make fun of me. I think some people don’t realise that there are Muslim majority countries in Europe (such as mine which is 70%), Kosovo (another Albanian country, at 97%) and Bosnia (50%). Regardless though, I don’t think it would matter where it is I come from, I’m still a Muslim. It is a worry whether or not my ethnicity could be an issue if I end up falling in love with a non-European Muslim. At the end of the day, my aim is to be a good Muslim, but though it doesn’t matter to me whether or not I’m ‘accepted’ by others, it can be tiring.

My fiance is a revert muslim and I always told him that I’m proud of him. Allah guided him to truth. How can I judge him when my Rabb accepted him to Islam. How can I reject him because he has a past when Allah promised to forgive all his past sins. Please go back and look at yourself before judging someone just because he or she is a revert!!

Reverts aren't special. I hate that some in our ummah hate their people so much that they idolize and fetishize reverts. Some even claiming they tend to be better Muslims. In reality, many men and women use Islam as a crutch, when just discussing their racial preference in spouse. That's a whole different topic though, too long.

No, but I loved the conversation you guys had at the start. The same thing happens to me, I’m like wait where did the last two years go. I’ve legit been on autopilot. It’s those moments I realise that if I don’t start acc doing the things that I’ve wanted to achieve, another few years of autopilot will go past 😂 and also I agree with the sentiment that you would’ve expected yourself to have dealt with or grown in certain facets of your life or built new habits or certain identities for yourself by a certain age. But I realised even if you’re moving at a snails pace Insha’Allah one day you will get there ❤️ Allahs timing is the best for us

It’s sad when people like my family who are all about “wow this person converted to Islam MashAllah” but when a white revert wants to marry me they’re like no…It happened a few times. It doesn’t make sense. I heard other stories like a black revert having to prove he’s a good Muslim it’s insane. Your advices are great! New subscriber here 👋🏾

That’s so horrible, it’s definitely a culture thing and honestly she was protected because imagine if she acc did marry into those families and those men SCARY. Also I personally have aunties who have married white reverts and I’m Somali, my ayayo did feel a bit wishy at first but seeing as he had a great job and his family liked her a lot it worked out ! But I do also think it’s harder for a female reverts vs male reverts as the standards for born muslim women are higher in comparison to the Muslim men within society already …

Like you could be a Muslim man who had sinned in the passed and that would more likely be swept under the rug if you had repented, but with a woman it’s kinda like you’re more likely to still be viewed as impure by society even after you’ve repented which is totally unfair but I think that may also play into why they’re less likely to accept female reverts

The bigger problem is that reverts are fetishized by born Muslim women. Girls in this comment section are praying and making dua for a revert, rather than a Muslim husband. If that's not a problem, I don't know what is. Revert is synonymous, in this context with white or black. It's cool if that your preference, but let's call a spade a spade and not utilise Islam in this way.

perhaps she "looks" a certain way, if she has tatoos and looks a certain way even if she is a revert I can see how the traditional cultural arabs would not accept her, not sure about pakistanis but surely the looks are inportant. Arabs be thinking, what about the kids? how would they feel watching their mom having tatoos? what would people say about the husband for marrying her... it's the only reason I can see why they won't accept her

I’m assuming she wear a hijab because many Muslim reverts I’ve met have chose to wear the hijab and/or dresses modestly, so even if she did have them, I don’t think her tattoos would be visible for people to see anyways.
