You can't stop now: copyright be damned -- 2 masterpieces are on the horizon, #44 and my personal fav #45!

Oh, I'll never stop. It's just something I need to deal with. No problems, amazingly, with this video.

I find Haydn so engaging and life-affirming that I have been adding to my Haydn collection for nearly 20 years. Keep up the good work!

Haydn is miraculous. This symphony is already a firm favorite of mine, and I have only known it for four months or so... Thanks for your inspired and inspiring advocacy!

KZbin seems to be ignorant. They probably think Haydn is still alive.

Having first heard this symphony in around 1960 (courtesy of a BBC broadcast in England), and many other broadcast and recorded performances of the work since then, I've been especially impressed by Giovanni Antonini's performance of the work (on KZbin), which brings a remarkable degree of ferocity to the development section of the first movement. This approach is compelling.

Some are, but given his most recent work, it's developing that most are not. A pity.

It's interesting to see both the transitions and developments get more prominence to complement the more expansive nature of Haydn's expositions and entire movements, respectively. By #64 the transition takes up half the exposition! It really brings home that Haydn's changing conception of the symphony was very purposeful.

I understand the principle of copyright infringement, stealing music, etc. Those are important things as people's livelihood depends on the just buying and selling of goods. But there has to also be reasonable ways of disputing copyright violations as well as the ability to defend yourself.

I put a radio recording of Shostakovich' "Lady MacBeth of Mtsensk" by Henry Lewis (at the Concertgebouw) in my account, and I received a copyright claim for the Rostropovich recording by EMI. It's still in my account, but a very annoying move.

No worries David. We will take them as they come. It is just a fantastic series.

Haydn: the best composer ever who didn't take himself too seriously

I’ve been there with getting multiple claims for the same sample of music, KZbin’s algorithm is absolutely insane. Completely understandable to slow down over this nonsense. I’m enjoying learning the symphonies as you go along, as I was not exposed to much Haydn before this.

Great video Dave well worth the wait..........are you going to review the latest clump of Haydn from Klumpp...and Antonini's latest of a couple of Paris symphony's?
@DavesClassicalGuide2 жыл бұрын
Sure, eventually.

The onus should be on the publisher to prove infringement. Being able to make punitive claims without having any burden of proof is just an abusive system.

Hi Dave, instead of fighting these legal fiends, why not leave out the excerpts and just mention the bar number or if referring to Naxos, indicate the time in the recording. Most people have subscriptions to Apple/Spotify/GooglePlay. Your descriptions are worth more than the excerpts. The pigs still allow you to sing, don't they? So SING!!!

I appreciate the thought, but the music has to be there.
