Probably one of the best presentations I’ve viewed! You are a GREAT teacher! Love how you showed arrows to explain further what you were talking about! Wish you lived next door to me! :-). God bless!

Love this, great job!! Really impressed by how you handled the different cartridge length. I would have given up at that point and burned my house down.

Ha! You're hilarious! That's part of the fun with DIY. Walking into projects knowing that things are never going to work out perfectly, and then coming up with solutions to whatever happens. I feel like patting myself on the back every time! 😀

This little kzbin.infoUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.

Great video! I will try this on our bathtub faucet. One suggestion, turn off the water heater (turn the temperature to “vacation” or turn the control to “pilot”) before you turn off the water and open a faucet. That lets air into the pipes and the water heater. The water heater might not like having air inside; air does not conduct heat like water does. After you turn the water back on and get the air out of the plumbing, turn the water heater back on (turn the temperature back to A, B, or C or turn the control to “on”).

Fantastic job! That was impressive. You just saved yourself hundreds if not thousands of dollars. You can also use a screw driver or wrench to tap on the parts that are too tight, so that it would be easier to unscrew them.

Have a question how did you know which shower set would be compatible. I have the same delta and it’s horrible looking and I want to use matte black instead of silver or bronze. And I’m new to this fixer up game and it’s a stand up shower and I can’t and don’t want to damage or replace all the hardware
@projectsfordiyers25122 жыл бұрын
Hi Christina! Great question. I had done a bit of research before making a purchase. I decided to replace my Delta handle with another Delta handle for the very reason that you're mentioning. All the sites I looked at said that the valves are universal and can work with any Delta handle. That's the primary reason that I replaced my old Delta handle with a new Delta handle. I didn't want to mess around with any valve cartridge replacements either.

Is that push pull shower faucet that easy to replace for a modern turn left right one?
@projectsfordiyers25122 жыл бұрын
Hi Richrico! the process was easier because I chose to replace a Delta handle with another Delta handle. In this way, I didn't have to worry about needing to switch any valves or cartridges for the new handle to work. If I had replaced it with a Moen, for example, I believe they use different valves and this would have required a bit more work. Happy DIYing!

My problem is getting the handle off at the start. The screw is very rusted, and my screwdriver can't get a bite into the screw to turn it and remove it.
@projectsfordiyers25122 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one. Is the screw stripped or just stuck? If it's just stuck and won't budge, I'd try some PB Blaster on it (link provided below). Let it sit for a bit and then try again. If it moves a bit and then gets stuck again, just repeat the process until the screw is out. www.lowes.com/pd/Blaster-PB-Penetrant-4-fl-oz-PB-Penetrant/1000213835?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-hdw-_-ggl-_-PLA_HDW_000_Hardware_Catch-All-_-1000213835-_-online-_-0-_-0&ds_rl=1286981&gclid=CjwKCAjw_tWRBhAwEiwALxFPocKY_-lzLXRj0o7okeU7H-f72rHmo5khujEKagoZVEdMA659ubW7RhoCElUQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

This is great, very thorough, but proof that I better call a plumber because I’ll totally mess this all the way up.
@projectsfordiyers25122 жыл бұрын
Ha! Ali I'm sure you can do it -- but always wise to know your limitations. I call an electrician every time I have an electrical project. I have a fear of zapping myself even if the electricity is turned off lol
@richricogranada96472 жыл бұрын
I texted one plumber and he said that he needs to open the wall to do this type of replacement and it would cost around 500 bucks. And I didn’t even tell him I’m a woman.
@projectsfordiyers25122 жыл бұрын
Ugh! That's ridiculous. Sorry to hear that. One of the reasons that I started doing DIY projects was because if I called someone and asked for help on a project, I'd inevitably have to do something anyway. For example, I hired someone to replace a broken valve on my washing machine and they left me with a giant hole in my drywall that I had to fix myself. I realized that no one will do a better job than me (after I've acquired some knowledge about the topic first, of course) because it's my home and I care about things being done right more than anyone that I hire to come in a do a job for me will care. It good to know your limitations -- I'll still hire someone if I feel that I just don't have enough skill to do the job. Happy DIYing.
