Thanks for your video, it's way easier to follow than Bromptons own official video!

This gives me (some) confidence I can do it myself 😅. Clear and very detailed. Thanks!

I had a flat today, changed it watching your video, it took like 10 minutes, and I used only the tools that I routinely carry on my bike. I am prepping for a long-distance self-contained ride, so I used only the tools with me, mini-Brompton tool kit and magnifying glass that I always carry to help find the culprit. Used my tweezers from my first aid kit to remove a tiny little metal sliver that caused the puncture. First time ever changing my own tire, so thanks!

I can’t tell you the amount of times we patched inner tubes in my country back in the day.. it’s awesome living here that things are so readily available.. Great work on fixing it!

Thank you very much for making this video on how to fix a flat on the back tire of a Brompton. I have replaced the tube in the back tire of my Brompton several times. There is usually a long time between flats (thankfully). So each time I need to replace the back tube or tire I sort of forget the fine points of how to do that that (getting the back tire on and off the bike and all). Your video--relaxed and detailed at the same time--took me through the process so I was able to do it pretty fast. You saved me day--since I depend on my bike for getting around. Thanks so much!

Glad the video is helpful 👍. I used to get flats regularly, then I switched to the kevlar tires and now I hardly ever get them.

You don't always have to take the wheel off to fix a puncture. If the point of entry is more than, say, 4 inches from the valve, you can lift the inner tube out from one side of the tyre with wheel still on. Keeping the tyre and tube together is good, for checking that what caused the puncture is NOT still in the tyre. It is convenient to use glueless patches, too. Although I always have a spare tube with me, I don't normally replace a tube until it has a dozen or so patches in it.. Note: The correct gear adjustment is not a matter of trial and error... The manual states set gear lever in second position, and then adjust tension-chain screw until just ONE millimetre of unthreaded shaft is pulled out and visible through the observation hole in the side of wheel nut. Then you will find all three gears select smoothly and in positive fashion. Of course, if you don't take the wheel off, but patch the tube in situ, you don't have to adjust the gears at all. FYI My usual time to fix a puncture at the roadside is about five minutes.. that's if it is a nice day.. not raining or anything.

Of course the chances that your puncture is that close to the valve is nearly 0. 🤣 Thanks for the video, my first rear puncture on my first commute of the year 😞

Does it matter what gear the bike is in before starting this process?
@HooptieDoodle11 ай бұрын
no. the chain will find its way once you start pedaling

There is no need to remove the nuts and lock tabs. Backing them off to the end of the axle is enough to remove the wheel, and are four fewer things to lose. Do you have rim tape ? And, one could repair the tube. The axle has flats that need to be lined up with the slots in the drop tubes -- can be a little tricky. Need to go easy on the 15mm nut for the chain tensioner -- the latter being plastic it can easily be over torqued and cracked.

Why would your remove the gear chain and the nuts? I just loosen them, then ease the tyre out; that way, no danger of losing small pieces.
