Literally today, I followed this and changed my tone ring. Many thanks. Great video! To the point, covered each step and made sense! Great work! 😊👍

I have to replace mine that split the same. This is helpful thank you. Only thing I'd add to the video and I'm not sure this matters or not but when I replaced my rotors for ventilated discs I marked the axel to fit back in exactly the same as when I pulled it out. Again may not matter but I figure better safe then sorry to fit it how it was already seated. Thanks again.

Really appreciate the tight editing! Most car how-to videos I immediately set to play at 1.5 speed, but no need on this one.

It was difficult to find Tone Rings for sale a few years ago. Now I just bought a complete Hub, 5 bolts, O-Ring, and the Bearing, complete set, online from Advanced Auto Parts, with home delivery, for only $147.75 incd. tax !! Awesome to-the-point, video, with no B.S. ! 2016 Transit 250, single rear wheel. (October 1, 2024)

So, I have a abs light on even after I've replaced the sensor, would a broken ring cause this ? Many thanks
@mozer302 жыл бұрын
Just a word of warning. There’s a special seal that fits in the hub, and upon removal can be damaged. It’s a 2 piece seal, which can pull apart, leaving 1 half in the hub, and the other on the axle. It cannot be repaired as it distorts when the hub is removed. You may want to order a seal to be on the safe side as this happened with only 40k miles on the clock.

Our fix was to pull the fuse for the ABS and cruise control. Cheap, effective and makes you drive & brake like the old days...courteously and carefully.

I’m glad I didn’t know how much work it was when I started the project. It took all day, it was like a day at the gym. 👍👍

@@livefree6878 Yeah, it's pretty awful work. On all my Chevy trucks I've always said, "Over 100k miles means no more ABS or cruise control" Out comes the fuse.

You don’t think a broke ring could cause more damage down the road?
@wxfield2 жыл бұрын
@@dylanpottery For me, it never has been an issue. But most of my trucks on the farm here are at least 1 ton..so maybe that makes a difference. I think if it were a more normal truck..like a half ton, I might just replace it all. Those parts (in their entirety) seem a lot cheaper than the larger truck parts.
@dylanpottery2 жыл бұрын
@@wxfield gotcha I have a 350 transit just got myself an this exact issue just happened but I’m contemplating having the shop even do it now after seeing just how big a job is an really wanting to make sure if it’s done gets done properly with correct torquing an backing off after compression

Totally disagree. It was to the point, covered each step, and nowhere in the title did it say “for beginners” so I used it, and had great results!
