So I opened this video and thought "who spent 20 minutes replacing the plastic cover?!?!" A brilliant repairman, that's who. I am so glad I watched it, SUPER helpful, they do not make that easy or user intuitive, I was hung at the twist out cap piece on the inside piece of the door. I was about to give up and say it wasn't a serviceable part. Thanks!

I would include in the beginning on why you can't just snap on the panel. I had thought I found the wrong video until I watched all the way through. BUT GREAT VIDEO! Was able to get everything fixed and looking great!

Awesome job. My adult son and I just fixed that trim panel at our new house. Some videos do show this trim installation without pulling the controller modules but I think your approach saved us from breaking any of those little brittle locking tabs. Keep up the great work!

Well, it's now March, 2022 and I just used your video to replace my GE control panel. Thank you for taking the time the make and post the video. Without it, I'd still be using packing tape to keep my old control panel on top of there dishwasher. Very well done and appreciated!

Removing the control module from the frame before attaching the console cover was the secret! I had already broken one replacement cover by trying to snap it on with the controls attached to the frame as suggested in other videos. Thank you!!!

Great job…I made a mistake the first time by not taking the control switch apart like you show..thanks for the break down..recommend taking a file to the start switch opening so it has more room otherwise it may jam..

Mine's a slightly different model but these instructions worked perfectly - for now, I used your video to put the broken one back in place, and add some packing tape like the kind you removed, but eventually I'll get the new one. Great and helpful. Thanks a ton! One thing I missed - when attaching the face on, once everything is in place and you slide to snap - make sure to firmly press and get the final snap on each section. I realized it was misaligned a little at the end and had to work my way back through it. I missed 1 snap. It was in the grove just not completely snapped in. In some ways it was “good enough” but I was afraid that if I left it, I would be ordering another one eventually due to the slight lip/overhang getting caught on something.

Wow, what an amazing video. Extremely helpful. Unfortunately the LITERALLY MOST POORLY DESIGNED MECHANICAL ATTACHMENT CLIP IN THE HISTORY OF HOME APPLIANCES snapped off when I put the new cover on. I was insanely careful. I got almost all of the in, but then the 2 on the end snapped off so I ended up exactly where I started. Whatever engineer from GE that designed this cover should be flogged. An hour of my life and $20 I will never get back. My only solace is this wonderful instructional video.

Not to mention the fact that you have to remove the entire door assembly to replace the stupid cover. Anyone reading this - I highly recommend a Bosch dishwasher. This builders grade GE washes well but it’s these small details that make it a really frustrating appliance

Thank you, brilliant! I just bought a brand new dishwasher and this piece is broken. It came with tape covering the panel (like yours was) and as soon as it was peeled off the panel snapped out of place. WHO would believe you need to remove the whole door to replace it!? Company is sending me replacement part and then Home Depot or GE will come out and put it on for me (I'm a little ole lady lol). At least now I can supervise and let them know - don't break any of the clips or it'll happen again! You have a very good cameraman working with you! Thanks again.

You two are MARVELOUS! I have a similar model (GDF630PGM0WW) only mine has front controls. My old cover is really messed up inside, with broken screw slots that cause the UI board to not connect properly. Mine had tape on both sides of the panel too! It was SUPPOSED to be brand new when bought in March 2019, and I never opened it before yesterday myself. Am waiting on my new panel cover from Sears and hopefully with the new UI circuit board and silicone light pipe installed properly in it WILL WORK!

Thanks for your video, I never would’ve guessed that replacing such a silly cosmetic part would be that much trouble. I work on my car engines, laptops, smart phones, and nothing is as stupidly designed as this cosmetic trim. Worst type of clips just to make it pretty from the top. Several clips on my trim are already broken, so I’ll just attach it with adhesive or screws and see how it goes before i get a new part and go through this process.
