@@dailyhandsdiyhello...after my ford aspire 70k service, car is bouncing more if i drive at a higher speed on a pothole though the service advisor advised that the shock absorbers needs a replacement...But it wasnt that bad before i gave it for service...What could have gone wrong? Some loose fittings of wheel? They confirmed they didnt remove the shock absorber..pls reply

@@vijayendranvijay4538 Seems like the absorbers are busted...Can't say if someone drove your car rashly over potholes or bumps.

Always remember your life and body is not worth the risks you took here. That said I had a pair of Snap On spring compressors that broke and missed my head by an inch! It took out a breeze block solid concrete. I have also heard from my uncle who was a mechanic how due to improper fitment of the springs resulted in a mechanic being hit in the head and he was mentally disabled all his life needing constant care. Please excercise safety first. I dont say this lightly as myself went in for a quick check and lucky for me I just decided I need a bathroom break and as soon as I got out the jack failed and the car crashed onto the floor. This happened to Bruce Van Atta and he made a book about it!
@dailyhandsdiy3 жыл бұрын
Totally agreeing with you. The c clamps i used was not hardend one so chances for breaking is less and yes there're chances to deform and fail but that would have been happened when i jacked up the car. But still its risky. And yes the jack failures are common especially the hydraulic ones. Be sure to use a jack stand having twice the capacity of the car. And glad you noticed the risks, its absolutely good to have risk assessment plans before you do anything. cheers.

Even my ford figo titanium front underbody touches all the slightly bigger bumpers. I have also installed a roggerabb spring buffer which increased the ground clearance by an inch. My car has clocked 61k on the odometer and I can see little oil on the struts. Will replacing the front help because the roads in my area are filed of big pot holes.?

Replacing the front struts help?
@dailyhandsdiy3 жыл бұрын
No brother, strut wont help increase the ride height, for that a bigger spring or as said a rubber damper will be practical. Any way you have to change the strut as its leaking.

There're many places where professional spring compressors are unavailable. So a self made C clamps may come in handy. You just need a hammer to make these clamps. And yes there should be something holding the spring. elso donno one should be hulk or magneto.

Hmm its actually not that incorrect... ;) the tool i used cannot compress the spring, it just holds the spring or clamps the spring. So technically its not a compressor.
