Replace Fuel Filter Touareg 7L 2.5 tdi R5

Hey man! love your videos, just did the fuel filter change according to your instructions, it is good to mention that after you change it you need to crank the engine for like 30 sec until the filter fills up with fuel. Keep up the great work, sad that you don't have the Touareg anymore!

Just wandering could u pls advice me just fitted first day fuel filter VF in front and VM in rear as i had before my old but i see now yours there is VM in front Vf at rear i did now same as yours still not starting maybe is buble inside dont know really what to do i took out fuel filter there was a diesel filled in when started but cant start so if u have time pls what would u suggest to result issue thanks

First of all you need to put exactly in the same order as you took it out and second of all I've primed two or three times before I attempted starting it and even then it took quite a few turns to fill up the filter with diesel before mine started. Some people fill it with diesel before they install it and then it starts straight away. because if you imagine the filter itself is a litre of diesel and then my pipes were hanging and leaking diesel until I changed it so probably another half of litre of diesel

VF - fuel supply from tank VM - goes to tandem pump RT - goes to fuel cooler (heat exchanger) RF - from the fuel rail (pipe has fuel temp sensor in it)

Hi , very informative video on changing the fuel filter. Can you say some symptoms associated with a clogged filter , have a 2005 Touareg same engine as your caption. Getting an occasional violent shudder on harsh acceleration at speeds above 60 kmh

Did you fill the new filter with diesel before fitting

You can't really, because it's not cartridge based. But if you let the fuel pump work for a while (ie. leave ignition on without starting the engine), that will fill it.

Roosterbooster !!!!!!!!!! I changed mine last week ,I filled the filter with a small funnel using clean diesel, fitted into engine and it started first time

no it filled itself as it turned for a few times, filter was empty

I turned for about 5 or 6 seconds then turned it off then turned and primed again for about 5 seconds and then third time started

dopo averlo cambiato è necessario avviare il motore per circa 30 secondi finché il filtro non si riempie di carburante.
