Thanks, that's helpful. You seem to know what your doing. I'm currently shopping for E92 and want be as well aquainted with these things as possible. At that sort of miles I suppose I'd also replace that hose although I imagine it carries some sticker shock also.

All German cars have a lot of sticker shock lol. ; )

On this sort of car I'm sort of inclined to replace any rubber or wearing part that I remove IF it's normally hard to access and has a lot of time/miles. Eat the price of parts, that's the cheap 'part' of the overall job usually. (I have since purchased a 2011, wt., carbon roof, comp. pk., MANUAL!) The only significant thing I'd change about car is add a 7th gear ideally for 80 mph cruising, or even make 6th a little taller...mainly to save a little engine wear but also fuel...planning a 2k mile road trip soon.

I totally agree on replacing "worn" rubber and plastic parts during any labor intensive job. Enjoy your ride and do not worry too much about engine wear. Any car on planet simply needs frequent oil and filter changes to easily go 200,000 miles or more. Even cheap cars can do this with proper care. Oil and coolant are 2 most important fluids. Also - NEVER overheat an engine. That can easily do it in. If it gets hot shut it down and tow it!

I hate that rear tube connector with my entire existence right now. My old breather valve BROKE OFF inside the tube. So that's where I'm at right now lol

Avery - all those plastic tubes are very finicky and fragile. That is on all the German cars. They become brittle with age. I generally use some clear silicone and a lot of finesse and almost never break em. You likely need a new tube or just extract the broken nipple. If orings and lock OK you can reuse

@@AutomotiveEZ I just got it out. Had to use a screw to fish it out and a pick like you did. Being more careful now

@@averyc7492 - Glad you got it out! Silicone spray will be your best friend on those style tubes lol

Handy video, I found using a screw driver to undo the ring clamps easier, the hardest part was really the front hose on the valve, easy cutting clamp off but getting the rubber tube off the mounting was a prick. I’m hoping this fixes the excessive cranking on cold starts.

Thx for posting. Hope you fixed yours up!

AutomotiveEZ unfortunately it doesn’t. Still excessive cranking on cold starts, I don’t suppose you have any ideas?

Hi, can you tell me the mileage as I asked before? The mileage is important.

Is this relevant to the warning sign " close gas cap" I keep getting even after I have replaced 2 BMW OE gas caps? Now I have MIL " Evap small leak" ?
@AutomotiveEZ6 жыл бұрын
pokerwon Best thing to do for “Small Evap Leak” code is a legit Smoke Test at a legit shop! Always rule out leaks before replacing any parts

I think this may be true as I got the same thing, 2 fuel caps and 2 dtml pumps..Increased Emissions everytime! Will be doing this soon

Does this solve erratic idle issues when coming to a stop?
@AutomotiveEZ6 жыл бұрын
WallsBreakHands Sorry cannot diagnose over a computer. Would need to see car in person. Generally this valve causes “after refueling issues” some cold start and heat soak start issues as well. Always see a real mechanic in person for diagnosis

was it this? im having the same issues

my car has a problem with idle in cold and sometime to wait the engine for 75c• it died .. is it something about the breather ?
@AutomotiveEZ5 жыл бұрын
That issue can be anything, so to speak! You should see a qualified Mechanic / Technician for Diagnosis.

I'm having an issue where the fuel pressure is higher than it should be and after awhile my car gets a fault and runs fuel pressure at 100%. Could the fuel tank breather valve cause fuel pressure to run higher than it should?
@AutomotiveEZ4 жыл бұрын
No the breather is part of the Evaporative emissions system. (only if it were to cause a lean mixture during a malfunction could it influence fuel delivery - slightly) And to accurately measure fuel pressure - a mechanical gauge is best and the most accurate. Looking at scanner data can be inaccurate - especially if the scanner is an aftermarket unit. Or if there is an electrical issue in vehicle fuel pressure sensor. Or - if the scanner user does not really know how to read and interpret the data. Fuel pressure at 100% can mean the PCM is commanding higher fuel output. It does not necessarily mean the fuel pump - for sake of example - is trying to - or IS, actually running at max capacity. Take it to a real garage. There are guys like myself out there - that can diagnose it accurately and save you money in the end. Thx and be well.

I just replaced my fuel pressure sensor and this solved the high reading fault!
