Here we update how to replace the battery in a Volvo and Polestar key fob with a fresh one. Its a new generation fob used by both manufacturers.
We've produced this video before, but the key fob is awkward to work with and have some minor additions that will make the process easier. You'll need a small screwdriver and a new CR 2032 battery.
Models covered include the Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 and the Volvo V60, S60, S90, V90, XC40, XC60, and XC90.

Brilliant. video - TERRIBLE key fob design in every possible way! Not only the size if a brick, and prone to accidentally opening the tailgate, but almost impossible to change the battery. I'd like to see a video with the Volvo board members doing the task!

Could Volvo make changing the battery any more complex? Seems like the complexity is just a ploy, requiring the owner to bring the fob to the dealership then charge an extortionate fee.

They probably wouldn't charge a lot -- it would be counterproductive. However, it does smack of "let us take care of you". This is common in an industry that makes a LOT of money providing service. Go easy on the small stuff, build a relationship, and they come back for the bigger stuff.
