Replace the carbon brushes on a Bernina Nova 900

@@trishmaher3032 hello. I’m in the UK simply typed in Bernina nova 900 carbon brushes and plenty came up for buying. If you’re concerned at all, just check the new ones against the old ones before you put them in. If they’re slightly bigger, they can be sanded down to fit exactly. Good luck.

I used my Bernina nova after few years. It turned on fine, i changed the light blub and all of asudden the motor was smoking ,just a lot of smoke was coming from the back. unplunged it quickly. Cleanened it. Now the machine will run few minutes when i use the presser foot then stop. what can be wrong can i fix it myself, TIA

@@nuzhatyasmeen5271 i’m so sad your machine is not working properly for you. It certainly sounds like your capacitor in the motor has gone if it’s smoked. Sometimes they are not quite fully broken yet and that makes them a bit erratic. They are quite a number of capacitors in these machines and they all need checking at the same time. while you’re at it check your brushes are okay as well. You can do this yourself if you’re confident and you know how to solder and they are plenty of videos online which will help you withthis. Otherwise it’ll have to go into a very good sewing machine engineer, but do not let them tell you it’s not repairable! Good luck.Michele.
