Replace the Chipper blade on your MTD Chipper Mulcher

Yes you can do it yourself for the cost of a new blade. Restore the fine chipping again.

Thanks. This is helpful. Mine is a model 452G709 - very similar to this one, but with a Briggs OHV engine. I bought it in 2007. I have never changed the blades, and today, after trimming some dead limbs from a Japanese red maple tree, I REALLY need new blades. Now I see that this is a straightforward process.

How do you replace the coil? I couldnt figure out how to remove the bloody fuel tank to get to whats underneat.

I found the blade with search for MTD online, but a local shop also had the blades I think they do mailorder if you still need it.

I think the original part blades are probably better than some after market replacement blades you find online.Original part is about $50.00 per blade and some online replacements are $15.00. There must be a difference in hardness and quality for that price difference.

What was that nut that fell off. Did you replace the shredder blade too?

The nut is for rod to hold up the chute.

Hey buddy just look where your oil fill is there is two bolts and two at the bottom the tank will slide to your right then it will come off and the rest you will see . Note when readjusting the coil take a business card place over the magnet and slide the coil till it touches the card and tighten it up if you still have no spark disconnect the plug to your kill switch and you will have spark but you will have to disconnect spark plug boot to shut it off you should have a rubber boot on it so you will be fine to touch it to unplug it ONLY IF THE RUBBER BOOT IS ON IT ONLY

Air tool ratchet but compressor was too weak
