Replace the Speedometer Gear in a NP-231 Transfer Case

The only tool you will need is a 13mm or 1/2" Wrench

Still don't know. I'm pretty sure the issue is further up on the wire harness, maybe under the hood or in the cab.

I have 1992 jeep xj and i have 35s with 4.88 gear ratio i know that i need to buy 39 tooth gear set for ky speedometer but the thing is there is long and short shaft which one i have to buy?

Probably a short shaft for a 92. Long shaft is for if you have the cable speedometer, short is if you have electronic speedometer.

How do I find my gear ratio

I assume you mean gear ratio lol. Your axles should have a small plaque that is held by 2 bolts on the differential. On the plaque it will have a number, that is your gear ratio. If you have a 4cyl and stock axles you should have 4.10 if it's a manual and 3.73 if it's automatic. I can't remember off the top of my head what it should be for the 6cyl but you can find it online. Quadratec has it listed somewhere. Best method is to look at the axle though
