I think I bought it at AutoZone. I typically say where I got it and shoe part numbers in the video.

Thanks man for the video. Had to change that sensor, and nice to see I can just take off that clip and push another one in.

Do you have to unclamp every hose connected to the thermostat housing? I tried doing mine today then when I put coolant everything was coming out.

@@becausestuffbreaks I know but do you exactly have to clean the housing and disconnect every hose. I didn't clean the housing or disconnect the hoses then whenever I put the new thermostat and screwed everything back in place and added coolant it started leaking coolant from the housing area
@becausestuffbreaks3 жыл бұрын
It's possible you need to clean the sealing surface. Also, you might need new hose clamps.

So the temperature needle if everything is running good should always be in the middle right?
@becausestuffbreaks3 жыл бұрын
No, mine still never quite made it to the middle.

@@becausestuffbreaks well this is what I have asked, if the normal gauge position for temperature is right in the middle

Hey there love your video very thorough! Was wondering, my temp gauge works fine and ends up in the middle zone very good. However, despite the engine warm there isn’t any hot air blowing, rather mostly warm to cool air. Only when the car has been driven for about an hour do things slightly warm up. I’m in Canada and have to endure -30 weather could the thermostat still be an issue ?? Any help would be great . Also would you recommend just buying the whole housing and thermostat, there are some pretty decent price ones out there. Thanks
@becausestuffbreaks6 жыл бұрын
Doesn't sound like the thermostat since it's warming up like normal per the gauge. It could be the flap doors in the vents not working. I assume it works off vacuum lines so maybe one came off the controller or leaks. Can you tell if it sounds like the vent flap doors in the dash are moving?
@closedcaptioncomedy6 жыл бұрын
@@becausestuffbreaks It does sound seem like the vents are having a problem. From what I notice the vehicle does in fact warm up but only when driving at high speeds or after about an hour worth of driving. It seems as if the compressor fails to kick on at all during the winter months. I might add that even in summer the AC blows warm as well not sure if related to the same issue or not
@becausestuffbreaks6 жыл бұрын
If it's taking that long to warm up then your thermostat is definitely bad. You can save some time cleaning the housing by buying a new one. I would replace the thermostat and go from there. I found out my AC would blow warm at idle because of my bad thermostat. The car wasn't warming up so the dual cooling fan, that also cools the AC condenser, wasn't coming on so therefore the AC blew warm. Let me know how it goes after changing the thermostat.
@closedcaptioncomedy6 жыл бұрын
@@becausestuffbreaks Thanks a bunch! Is it normal for that much coolant to be spilling all over the engine like that when the thermostat is removed ? And is there anyway to avoid such a spill like that?
@becausestuffbreaks6 жыл бұрын
You can see if there's a drain plug on the bottom of the radiator. I've never done it so I don't know exactly where it is.

Just wanted to let you know that I did mine on my focus thanks for all your help it fixed my heating issue and a couple other things as well! Great work thanks a bunch! Note* for those ordering a housing and thermostat online be aware they are fragile and break easily upon torqing down again, the best method would be this way cleaning the original housing and using new gaskets and a thermostat *

@@iancameron198 what symptoms are making you think it's overheating? Both fans are cooling the engine and AC. They are both doing both and both should come on the same time. They don't come on until the engine warms up.
