muslin cloths were used for ages to wrap roti's. muslin cloths can be washed and dipped in rice water or tapioca water starch to make it slightly stiff. even banana leaves if slightly pan roasted becomes a good packing material and is 100 % natural, healthy and 100 % biodegradable - simply feed it to the cattle !! all kinds of dry sabzi's can be easily wrapped in banana leaves. even sandwiches, upma, poha, idli vada ect can all be wrapped in banana leaves. infact there are also other kinds of broad leaves that can be used for wrapping. the kind of broadleaf used to make "pattal" dried leaf plates is also an good alternative and its very cheap. in Kerala they even pour rasam and sambar like liquid stuff in banana leaf and tie it like a potli to carry along !! just my opinion - wax paper is still "paper" which uses the bees wax as a coating. similar to muslin cloth getting a coating of any kind of vegetable starch !! i would still prefer starched or just plain muslin cloth to wrap foods. infact i use it regularly in my refrigerator to store leafy greens. i use muslin cloth to sprout pulses. i use muslin cloth to store millet bhakris in stainless steel roti boxes.

To bee honest there's nothing like carbon footprint. It was pushed by British Petroleum after their oil spills so that the attention and blame of pollution was shifted to general people and attention taken away from Exxon, Shell, BP, Chevron etc. I worked with IOCL, GAIL, ONGC, ISRO LPSC, Shell, BP, Dangote, etc on various projects. Let me tell you these companies vent hazardous gases and flue gases in atmosphere via flare vent which causes more pollution in an hour of what you pollute in one whole year. Your preventive actions are not even a drop in Ocean.

I came across certain articles pointing out at such cruelty of the honey industry and how it might lead to a declination in their number affecting the eco balance. I hope these constructive procedures to the save the earth become cruelty free as well.

Aapka point ekdum valid hai. Lekin Beeswax garam khaane ko pack karne ke liye sahi nahi hai kyunki wo wax pighal jayega. Jyadatar Beeswax rolls pe hi ye caution likha hota hai. Primary use aluminium foil ka garam khane ke liye hota hai. Hum generally aluminium foil thoda thick lete hai aur use ghar me hi reuse karte hai jab tak wo usable nahi ho. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually aluminium gets leached into our food when it's hot. And aluminium is very bad for health. British had used aluminium vessels for Indian freedom fighter's food in jail so that it harms their health. We should try to avoid aluminium vessels and aluminium foil if possible.

For personal use its okay. But for a food joint it will be very costly to use beeswax cloth. Also, beeswax cloth melts at higher temperatures and is sticky. After consuming food wrraped in it If you wash that cloth with normal water it may not able to clean it properly as it is sticky and if u wash it with detergent it may get contaminated with it. Which makes the cloth useless for second time use. I don't think this is a feasible option for a business, may be for personal use only.
@buddhapiyao1315
@buddhapiyao1315 Жыл бұрын
you pointed put some really important issues. its not practical to wash this cloth. firstly the food that is packed in it will contaminate the wax secondly washing it with soap will leave soap traces on it which will further contaminate the food that would be wrapped in it. I would rather use muslin cloth or "starched" muslin cloth which is treated with either rice or tapioca or any other kind of vegetable starch. cleaning is easy, starching it back is equally easy and being a cloth can be used repeatedly. no fear of food getting contaminated since the starch is also of edible form. for dry snack items like sandwich, poha, idli even dry subzi's and roti's dry leaf wraps are also ideal. its really cheap to get dry leaf plates and bowls also called "Pattal" being a leaf its 100 % biodegradable and does not require to chop trees as only leaves are used. Even banana leaves are ideal packing material but the only problem is it needs to be acquired fresh and cannot be stocked whereas muslin cloth and "Pattal" both can be stocked.
