Replaced the spring in my Forge waste gate actuator. The spring strength / color controls the boost.

When you had the weaker spring did you have slow spool? My t5r is currently making 22psi on a 19t but vast keeps saying I have slow spool. Currently running a forge cbv with a yellow spring but still have the slow spool

Larger turbos spool slower. Also depends on the turbo build.

3yrs later. Did you torque the screws on the actuator cap to a certain spec or just hand tighten?

On a 96 Volvo 850T5, IPD shows a different way to adjust the actuator rod. Since the valve opens at 1.8 psi, you lift off the rod from the wastegate, pump the pressure into the actuator port until is starts to open, then close the wastegate with your hand and then adjust the rod to fit over the wastegate. Easier to google IPD Volvo 850T5 wastegate adjustment and see how it's done. Similar to the way you do it, except they pressurize the actuator with the appropriate amount of air to activate the rod opening. Viva performance has an actuator for this car, except it starts to crack open at 4 psi. Not sure how well that would work.

Just ordered one myself with the yellow spring. Curious if you still use the forge unit and if you have encountered any issues with it.. my buddy experienced boost spikes with his on his t5.

Yes I still use it. Yes I do get boost spikes, about 5 psi high for a second or two.

Robert just curious...what turbo are you running with set up. Its confusing with the stock wastegate they say to preset at 5.6 but with these Forge's and Turbosmart you can start the spring at 14 or 15 psi. How do they differ and are you running HDTCV? thanks

Stock TCV from 1998. I'm running a hybird 19T. This actuator acts more like a manual boost controller.

Hi robert. I've got a 97 volvo v70. Equipped with manual climate control. I've fully serviced the ac couple hours ago. Compressor is not turning on and there is no lights on my mcc panel. What should i do next. Magnetic clutch? Or might the panel be broken or smthn? Thanks in advance!
