Greetings from Washington state, I have my 1966 Chevelle which is my first car that I paid 1300 for in 1980. It has a sunroof cut into it that I have to remove. It’s 43 years old but has a sweet 427 that a master built for it. It’s outrun a policeman and lots of street racers. It’s fast. It deserves a restoration. I have a convertible that I bought 20 years ago which is original and nice. I just bought a new top for it. It will need a new paint job soon. I just bought a 1966 El Camino which was rust free which shocked me. I had to buy it! I also have a 1970 Monte Carlo with a 402. My son has a 67 GMC truck. We act like we are going to live forever. Great video! Thanks

Instructions? What are those? Haha, it definitely helps to have an assembly manual with these old cars.

Yea, but like I said it was raining so I couldn't work outside. Next time I will change out the buckets, but I am hoping to get some more work done on the trailer and Camaro.

Any idea where I can buy some of those flat spring clips that hold the bezel on? I have not been able to find them anywhere.

Hey Dan , great video ! I replaced the heater box and now doing the cables. My question is the long cable the loops does that go to the middle temp door or to the air/fan door to the right? I have the defroster cable installed and works fine. Can't reference the old box because it's long gone. Thanks

I am not sure offhand. I can check the assembly manual later, but if you are on Facebook, you can join my group there and ask. facebook.com/groups/1966Chevelles

They make those levers new. I bought some off ebay.

I know, but I got this entire unit for free, so I used it. Are the replacements cast? Or made from something else?

Just thought it might be a lot less work swapping a lever than taking it all apart.
@DansGarageNC
@DansGarageNC 3 жыл бұрын
@@clunkersandclassics you still have to pull it out and take it apart to swap a lever, so I don’t think it would be much different, of course if you didn’t have a replacement unit for free you would have to swap a lever which is fine. Thanks for watching, appreciate it.

Hey, dan. There is a tool that you can get to help lube the interior of the cables. Nice job on the replacement and not breaking it.

@@DansGarageNCexactly! Great useful video! Do you recommend the Chevy assembly line manual? My friend Rick swore by it before he passed away in an accident. He had a sweet 66 convertible that he restored from a hulk that was beautiful. I have 2 1966 Chevelles and a 66 El Camino so I need something. Thanks!

There is little indentations on the levers under the chrome buttons. A small screw driver inserted between the buttons and those indentations will easily pry the buttons off without pulling on the lever mechanisms. Just slide the screw driver in and twist it like your turning a screw.
