Excellent job ! I only wish you would have filmed the work being done! But your explanation and showing the parts very clearly is most of the game.

Hey man, I bought a 91 Toyota looks almost identical to yours, but as I bought it I was told it didn't have a power steering, and im wondering if it's the same process?
@tubejim1015 жыл бұрын
Most likely the pump went out, and they did not want to repair it. I would recommend getting a working used Toyota one. The aftermarket ones seem to be poorly made.

@tubejim101 I only need to replace the pulley ( one of the only parts you didnt show, haha).... this pulley isnt like a normal pulley, no lip to put the pulley remover on. I had no problem removing the bolt, but I can't remove the pulley. Could you tell me how you did it? I am trying to do this without removing the whole assembly; the pump is fine. The pulley is just bent from an accident. Thanks ahead of time!!

If you can keep the pulley from turning, you can just use a brake bar. I Used an impacted to brake it loose. Mine was out of the truck.

Was just thinking, if your pulley is bent, you could put some big vice grips on there. Maybe even drill a hole an put a bolt through it if you had to.

@@tubejim101 thanks for the quick response. I initially rented the pulley puller that required a lip to pull the pulley off, but ended up using another type. if you google "gear puller" it shows what i ended up using. Glad I got it off! Thanks again for contributing to the community

i am installing a power steering system on a non power steering 90 toyota pick up. on your video at 22:30 you talk about the vacuum lines. I need to know what part that is that has a spring connected to the intake manifold. The top vacuum line connects to it. It also looks like theres a diaphragm on the bottom of it of some sort. Any help would be appreciated.. Thnx, ;3

The silver thing on top of the power steering pump is called an air control valve. The thing with the spring is an idle up valve.

Great video. I have a 1994 Toyota pickup 22re engine with no power steering. You think a can install one?
@tubejim1013 жыл бұрын
You can. They are tricky. Hard to get the air out of the lines.

I just checked the Haynes manual....it doesnt specify. Mine was a pain to get off but its been on there for 20 years, so I dont know. As for the belt, the Haynes says 125(+-)25 for new and 80(+-) 20 for used belt. Maybe the Chilton manuel has it. If anyone finds out please let us know.

I only know how it is done for the 22re. AutoZone sells Alldata. I would get that. It should have all the info on how to do it.
