I have a question so I have a 1200 pound capacity trailer jack from a single axle trailer used to haul ATVs it needs to be rebuilt because it no longer moves up and down anymore. When you crank the handle in fact, the handle will just barely turn if any at all and when it does turn if it does, the Jack will not retract The only problem is the label that tells me who makes the Jack has worn away with the time being outside, so I have no idea. How to I identify what the brand even is I also don’t know which kind of parts to order are all rebuild kits the same I mean, they look similar, but that doesn’t mean much. I was just wondering because it is serviceable and I can take it apart to that extent, and I would really hate to throw it away if it’s something I can rebuild

Thanks for reaching out! It can be tough to identify the brand of a jack if there aren't any labels or stickers on it. If it is a D-L jack, there will be four numbers stamped into the bottom of the outer tube. This is the date code for the jack. Another way to distinguish between different manufacturers' tongue jacks is the size and shape of the black plastic handle grip. Does your jack appear to have a black plastic handle grip like the ones you see on the jacks on our website? Such as this one- www.dutton-lainson.com/proddetail.php?prod=22457

Can these jacks be bought with a higher ratio screw so I could get like 1" or 1.5" per revolution of the crank?
@DuttonLainson2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question, but unfortunately, no- we do not offer that type of option on our tongue jacks.

good video, i have the problem of the bottom half of the jack, ie the inside part that elongates or shortens, this part has fallen out, and i need to know how to fasten this piece back to the main part, tube, and screw, etc of the trailer jack, i can see the screw inside and the square nut on the screw, but somehow after working normally about 20 times over a few months it is not attached and thus practically useless, please help me with this matter, thanx

Ah yes, well made and serviceable product. Nice. So much better than the Chinese junk which will rust out within two years and has zero service support.

I'm about to strip down, clean, regrease and rebuild an older DL marine jack, similar to those in your video. The old grease is dried/caked up on the smaller parts and packed in the cylinder. What do you recommend to soak the parts in to dissolve the old dried grease so that I can easily clean the parts and regrease?
@DuttonLainson4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! You can soak the old jack parts in mineral spirits.

Do you think I can drill a hole in the bottom to insert a screw to prevent the jack not to swivel without dameging the inside parts?

What kind of red grease are you using?
@DuttonLainson4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! We actually no longer use the red grease shown in this video (it was a red Kendall marine grease). We now use a blue Locas Oil marine grease (lucasoil.com/products/grease/marine-grease) at our manufacturing facility.

What if I screw is Rusted up in I cannot turn it
@DuttonLainson Жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out! If you brush your jack's inner screw (as shown at the 2:20 mark of this video), and it still is too rusty to be turned, then it is time to replace your jack. We do not sell our jacks' inner tube (with the attached inner screw) as a separate repair part.
@jamiegermaine5395 Жыл бұрын
Thanks but I am trying to save a dolla if you taking drill a hole in the side of the Jack where you can get to the pens you can knock them out and settle it and you're good to go
