It's interesting seeing this video. Our 2022 2600RB awning stopped staying up after about 4 months. When I messaged GD support asking for two new struts, they insisted that the struts weren't the problem and I just needed to make the tension bolts much tighter on both sides. I was also told that the awning supplier said the same thing. Yes, after I've torqued the hell out of the tension bolts on both sides, both sides stay up, but I'm certain that this is only treating the symptom, not the root problem. Of course, I'm now out of warranty, so I'll need to change the struts on my dime. Thanks for the video.

Hi Jim, that is right you need to make sure your tension bolts are tight. The washers on the inside wear out. Gas struts go bad in hot weather and cold. My other side was fine. Hope this helps. Safe travels! Stan and Rhonda❤️🙏🏼

Exactly the same with my 2600RB. Just tightening the tension bolt solved the problem after I replaced the strut and it still sagged. Thanks for the video though.

This is exactly what I need. I have a 2021 Imagine. The connector at the end of piston which is made of aluminum that attaches to the awning frame broke in pieces. The strut is still good. Lippert says I will need a new strut since those ends come with it. I only needed the piston end. Buy the time I manufacture that part I may as well order the whole thing, which is what I'll do. Thanks for the video and link to Amazon 😄 You saved me a headache 👍🤟

Hi Bob, if you have a pitch arm make sure it’s tight. If that doesn’t work then it’s definitely your gas strut. I was shocked to find out the dealer is charging over $200.00 an hour for labor. Blessings, Stan and Rhonda❤️🙏🏼

Yes, they do that! We have to take ours in this year to repair/replace the A/C and heater. They'll need to check and replace some of the suspension. We only use it a few times a year, and it's 9 years old. It's still solid, though, and tows like a dream. Safe travels and God bless y'all!

Thanks for the video. However, the pushnuts come really easy off if you tap the bolt from that side with a hammer, drives the bolt over and hence the nuts off. Did not want to lose them so I did not drive the bolt through but pushed it back and then it was easy to pry the nuts off. Back on was easy with a 3/8 socket but I used a screw clamp to push them right back on. Was able to reuse all three push nuts.

I spent the better part of the day attempting this repair on my 2022 Highland Ridge Silverstar 376FBH following your video. All was well until it was time to attach the new strut (PN 260282) to the top arm (4:42 in your video). Even with the awning fully extended as instructed, the fully extended strut is simply too long to reach the top bolt. What am I doing wrong? Is there a workaround? Thanks for your video and encouragement!
@OverTheHillAdventures4 ай бұрын
Hi Steve, my only guess is have you tried lift the awning up higher at the end. It should be very simple. Did you replace the gas strut with exact one you had in there? The old strut and the new strut should be exactly the same. If all that has been checked the left awning at the rollup end.
@steveedwards46354 ай бұрын
@@OverTheHillAdventures Yep, I was lifting the awning up higher at the end instead of how you did it at 3:20 in your video! I took your advice and bought the OEM part 260282. Unfortunately, the sag persists!😔

If you own an RV, you better know how to fix some things on it, unless you’re rich. I’m on a budget and I replaced both of my awning gas struts in 30 mins. I figured I saved 4 to 5 hundred dollars over a mobile tech. My new struts came with new push nuts.
