Your technique of holding the motor shaft and wriggling the fan off is amazing.

I can't believe I needed to see someone use a wrench to capture the post to get the blades off. But I did. And that saved me the cost of a puller or new blades. So thanks man!

I’m glad I’m not the only guy that puts them in and has a rotation issue🤣🤣, 38 yrs at it you would think I’d have it perfect. Nice job. Good approach to motor diagnosis, DON’ T over complicate a simple thing👍

It was spinning clockwise the first time so its wrong?

FYI only Carrier and York you need to reverse rotation
@chrisreid79073 жыл бұрын
Honestly I’ve never really taken the time to read everything on that tag that comes with an after market motor. That was definitely a very helpful bit of knowledge I just learned by hearing you read that out, the clockwise shaft end and counter clockwise lead and. If I heard you correctly LOL. My dumb ass usually just starts the unit and it will change the rotation according to how the blade is spinning.

Yes, on that label it says “wiring shown is for CW, or CCW rotation lead end.” But, even with that I got it wrong.

Be gentle on the coils taking the fan out.

How close to the motor should that fan be? I was told to push it all the way to the top.

So my ac buzzes when it comes on but the fan doesn't spin. When I spin it with a stick it starts to spin and stays on. Does this mean my fan motor needs replacing? Trying to do this myself. I appreciate your help!!
@mrfloodsparty2 жыл бұрын
Most likely your capacitor is bad. In fact, that's a trick some do use to check for a weak but functioning capacitor, so that they don't condemn the fan motor. If you can spin it yourself and it continues under its own power, change the capacitor.
@franciscallahan42132 жыл бұрын
@@mrfloodsparty Thank you! That did the trick

How do you know exactly where to position the fan blade on the new motor shaft? Seems like too high or low might be a problem.

Me too. I deplore them.

How did you have it the wrong way? I did not understand that part. Did you put the blades the wrong way? The motor only turns in one direction right?
@HotRodDave Жыл бұрын
If you wire it wrong it spins the wrong way.
@HappyWolf182 Жыл бұрын
If only taking the fan off the motor was always that easy. I've been fighting with mine for 2 hours now.
@jamesvojir89883 жыл бұрын
Great vid but how'd you get those short wires with the wire nuts through the access out of the condensing section?
@HVACGUY3 жыл бұрын
They were too short out of the box to pull them in the control panel
@jamesvojir89883 жыл бұрын
Yea I never understood why the generic motors make em so short. Just a few inches more would make all the difference... "that's what she said". 😁

Why did you split white and brown and white wire together? On other video they don’t use brown and white wire?
@HVACGUY2 жыл бұрын
a capacitor is always between start and run. that white strip identifies it as run. so, all those wires are run - same thing.
@jtimmons78172 жыл бұрын
@@HVACGUY can you do a video explaining what each wire on the motor does?
@techfive72023 жыл бұрын
What driver you using that has a depth like that for those long screws to mount the motor? I'm guessing 9mm but what kind that works with that depth

Not sure what size. It’s the green one with a hollow shaft

Why did you use all of the wires on a three wire set up
@HVACGUY3 жыл бұрын
The way I did it is one way to convert to three wire. You can also cap the brown with a white stripe. That’s just the way I normally do it.
