Great video, but can you tell us where you got the inner wheelhouse

I get everything through LKQ Canada, those will be part # RRP3845 & RRP3846, outer wheelhouses 👍🏼

Used to use this method to remove the spot welds way too slow .We switched over to the mini belt sander 5 times faster

Agreed, just as a self employed body man there’s not usually much of a tool budget😉

Excellent video. On the new skin do you drill those factory holes larger so you have more area contact when you spot weld with mig welder? If so what size 3/16 or 1/4 ". Also would you suggest drilling more holes to insure better contact? Thank you
@Johnnymidnight9 ай бұрын
I usually drill them around 5/16, and will typically just do roughly the same amount of welds as the factory. More can’t hurt, but I don’t think really necessary 👍🏼👍🏼

What brand weld thru primer do you use? I have found Upol and Sem where I'm at. Thank you

I use the PPG shopline system, but I also use the Upol when looking for more build

Hey, what did you spray on the inside of the new box panel to help protect it?
@Johnnymidnight10 ай бұрын
I like to spray the inside with rust paint, like krylon or rustoleum, then at the very end I spray oil inside to soak into the pinchwelds, and areas that can’t be reached

Hey John. I’m just curious what kind of welder you use and how your set it it? Thanx

My welder is a little 110 miller, I usually have it set around 7 on wire speed and voltage for sheet metal

Do you have to drill the hole in the new fenders at the exact same place as the old one for spot weld or it don’t really matter!?
@Johnnymidnight6 ай бұрын
Great question, not necessary to be in the exact spot, but there are a few spots where there is no backing to weld to👍🏼

I bought a truck bed for the bedside panel for my truck that was t-boned from the side. It was a lot cheaper for me than buying a panel. I have drilled out all the spot welds and now know from your video that the top side is glued down. I would like to keep the bedside panel as nice as I can. Any recommendation for tackling the glue on the topside? Nice video BTW.
@Johnnymidnight2 жыл бұрын
I find when I can break it free, it leaves a nice surface for the new panel. I did another video on these (just because I felt my videos were improving) that might show it better 👍🏼

Hey Mr midnight I'm in quesnel ..where did you order boxside and what price
@Johnnymidnight2 жыл бұрын
Right now the only source for 8’ bedsides is OEM, and they’re around $12-1300 each, for a short bed there may be stock in aftermarket, around $900 I believe, any parts store can order through cross Canada parts.
@evanbell32383 жыл бұрын
Where do you recommend by replacement panels from seeing one might have concern with fit possible.
@Johnnymidnight3 жыл бұрын
I find the aftermarket bed sides fit just as well as the OEM parts. I always get parts through Keystone (cross Canada auto parts). In my experience aftermarket parts all come from the same factory, just sold by different suppliers. Any auto parts store should be able to get parts from keystone.

THIS IS WHY YOU NEED TO REMOVE YOUT TAILLIGHT AT THE CARWASH AND WASH INBETWEEN, DRILL A 1/4" HOLE ON THE INSIDE OF THE BOX ABOVE THE WHEEL AND OIL
@Johnnymidnight3 жыл бұрын
No need to drill a hole, once it’s clean and dry inside there are 3 plastic plugs on the inner wheel house where you can access to oil the inside of the panel

Doesn’t look like there’s any aftermarket support for a 2022 model, looks like you will need to check with the dealer.
