Do you recommend running boards on trucks as far as rockers rusting quicker or can they help prevent damage ?

Another great video! I’ve got a cat just like Lewey. I also had a 1990 Mazda B2200 that I bought new, I miss that truck. One of the best trucks I ever had. Paid $7500 for it. Wish they would make a simple 2 wheel drive 4 cylinder 5 speed pickup again. Happy New Year!!

Well i`ts 2025 back to it again Happy New Year.. Question, What do you do with the bare metal spots after your filler work is done I have a issue right now before high build. Blend in some more epoxy? I am using 5310 dtm from TAMCO for HB primer after panel is straight. Just sucks i broke through in some areas.

Personally I just use a little aerosol self etching primer for small burn throughs, or you can spot in with a little epoxy

So many guys or people talk sealer over primer, but why add a chance to make more work on you ? Now with some of the colors I've work with there are toners to help with color match that would be the only reason for a sealer in my book. But there is a couple of different colors of primer that is on the market to help with toners under your paint ? That's my way of doing it.

@jsiwek7212
@jsiwek7212 7 күн бұрын
@@JohnnymidnightHi John, it's Jim S. and I can tell you where that whole thing came from. I was a paint rep. for a long time in your area, and this whole "got to put epoxy down first" was a procedure that ICBC demanded on the FORD vehicles that had some panels that were galvanized from factory. And to make repairs that were as close to factory quality ICBC made a coat of epoxy mandatory on those vehicles, before and subsequent filler work. Well, pretty soon the whole thing snowballed into every repair on every make had to have a coat of epoxy, before anything else was applied. It's just a big distortion of what they called for on some vehicles for a period of time. Some guys have in their past had a talking to about what should have been done, by the insurance adjusters, or their boss, and now think it's the rule. No filler that I ever sold said in the TDS sheet that it HAD to be put on epoxy primer, but you can if you want to.

Hey John I have more questions, the epoxy primer that you use, does it have three parts to it , base ,reducer, activator. IT is not the 2k stuff is it. I am finding it all confusing ,with all the videos on you tube about painting. Then the guys at NAPA know less than I do . I just want to get it right. And because it is winter do I need to get a fast activator ,for both the primers and the paint. Is the activator the same stuff for both the primers and the paint. And do they all use the same reducer.
@Johnnymidnight
@Johnnymidnight 12 күн бұрын
There will be 3 parts, primer, hardener and reducer, every brand is different, but it will likely use the same urethane reducer as the basecoat. Fast reducer for colder temperatures 👍🏼
