Replacing a Doorskin on a Classic 1969 Chevy Camaro Muscle Car

Grinding off a damaged skin and replacing it with AMD hammering over the hem and using a pneumatic doorskin tool.

I recommend AMD most of the time they’re one of the biggest reasons why so many of these cars get back on the road.

Hello again , I'm glad to see you do this tutorial I have both door skins on my sons 70 Chevy step side . Whats your opinion on the best door skin replacement ? My best Tighe

I haven’t done a 70 C-10 skin, last time I ordered one the company accidentally shipped a door shell for the door skin price so we kept it. We had troubles because I didn’t fit the inside lock rod and window regulator so if you do a full door completely fit everything before paint.

Thank you for the video. What is the make/model of your seeming tool? Where can a person buy a shot bag and rubber heel dolly? I've never used any of these for skinning a door but can definitely see the advantage in doing so. What weight is the bag? Any better ones? Same for the dolly.

The hemming tool is made by Astro and I think it’s great. The shot bag and rubber heal dolly I got off the snap on truck years ago but you could make your own pretty easily.

Well, now you also thaught us how to fix a ding in a part that shouldn't have a dings. That's how you plan things out in your head, I'll get a new doorskin, and easily put it on the door... And then reality comes in lol! About the wining about it... Isn't losing your sh*t half the work of fixing it? :D Anyway.. It fits beautifully!

Surprised AMD body line is off? From what I have heard they are the best aftermarket.

427bird69 They are the best from my experience with there sheet metal which is very extensive over a 17 year career. Auto Metal Direct is my go to 100 percent.

I'm with you on the shipping damage, very disappointing. I think shippers have some vendetta against body panels. If they left the box blank without telling what's inside, I think there would be less damage.
