Dan, the one piece floor pan is more expensive but it makes a better repair. Your method of lifting the body to slide the pan in is genius. Well done. You think outside the box. You don't need a gazillion dollar shop to build a hot rod. Easier but not necessary. True hot rodding.

Reminds me of a story I read once: a guy was sleeping in his house and woke up to that trifive door screech.. he got up and sure as shit it was the door on his 57, some guys were trying to roll it out of his driveway to steal it with a truck. I could sleep through a freight train so it wouldnt help me, but the door screech doesn't bother me as much now and is kind of a cool characteristic at this point

D & D, hey Dan, they used to call those steering boxes the impalers, the early Mustangs had the same problem..alot of people died due to the steering wheel impaling them in a front end collision. Dan, I always installed flush floor anchors. Good for holding down and collision pulling. Just a thought Buddy.
@howardkoster40263 жыл бұрын
Dan, best of luck....But by the time you see this, the floor is probably installed, seam sealed, primed/painted...You know the routine. GREAT JOB!!! YES, Dan, a good amount of collisions with the cars from the fifties was head-on collisions...YEP, the steering wheel/ AND column moved right into the driver's chests, and, well that was that...Take a look at the 1955/ 1956 Oldsmobile steering wheel...MASSIVE!!! The next was side impact which, the '58-'64 Chevy's with their 'X" shaped frames, well, they didn't offer much protection. The '59 Oldsmobile however, had a similar frame with a sturdy piece added to each side near the doors to help protect occupants. Go figure. GM AND FORD offered seat belts in 1956, but that scared buyers away, thinking cars with seat belts are not safe.. (I don't remember about Mopars and I'm not knocking them)

I can appreciate the floor install job you did! And I am impressed!. A couple of days ago I watched a video on Lovett speed shop where the guy did a 4 dr to a 2 dr conversion, then to install the full floor plan, he removed his completed door repair (front door and the new rear door panel section) just to insert the full floor pan from the driver side of the car! Your method made more sense to me, and was much quicker, I’m just saying.
