Getting a pool next summer…. I guess these are the issues I should expect in a few years! Yeah!

Pumps last a long time, depending on the length of your season. In NJ, 10-15 years is common.

The variable speed pump lowered my power expenditure for the pump to a fifth so even here in michigan it was worth it. now i did get my pentair super flow for $500 as an unused new open box at leslies but the regular price was $950. Also there are energy star rebates on them but i don’t recall how much that was but i think it was around $200.

May I ask what voltage you use on your pump? 115/230v? We have an old 18X36 oval pool with a 1 hp pump and think it’s wired for 115v. Is the pump motor going to run just as fine not being hooked up to 230v? Thx
@handydadtv2 жыл бұрын
This pump works with dual voltage. We wired it for 240, but there is a jumper to flip if you only have 120 volts.

@@handydadtv yeah, we checked and our pool hookup to the breaker box is 115v, thx!

Should of checked the capacitor on the back cover if the motor first. Might not of even needed a pump.

you should have just replace d the motor, Th SP2610X15 will last 20 years. BTW, Did Pooltown do this pool? I can tell by the components and workmanship...

Not 100% sure. I thought it was Anthony/Sylvan.

How come you didn't troubleshoot the MOTOR? There is usually a capacitor in the rear that goes...$30 part if not it's the motor and the seal but not the pump itself.
@handydadtv3 жыл бұрын
A couple of reasons. I don’t know where I’d get that part locally, so I’d need to get it online and that would delay the whole job if it didn’t work. Also, judging from the increased pressure of the new one, it probably had bad bearings.
@danb43763 жыл бұрын
Replacement caps can usually be purchased at electrical or HVAC wholesalers. Going by the video, it seems the motor windings went open circuit. No humming when tried, and no spark or tripped breaker. Probably all caused by bad bearings. A pool pump’s life can be greatly extended by keeping the motor and bearing dry. Cover the unit while exposed to weather. And bring in just the motor during the off season. The motor separates from the pump quite easily.

What I do not like about variable speed pumps is that they take longer to cycle your pool water. Yes you save money on your Electric but your pool is not being circulated fully because the pump is at a slower speed.
