Awesome block of instruction brother. Liked and Subscribed! Wiring shop tomorrow. Love the connector tools you introduced, never seen that, will stop by lowes and look for them as well.

Wow I was all in on Lumary but after seeing the lack of lifetime span (only 15k hours??) I’ll definitely be going with Govee so I don’t have to change my lights out again in 3 years 😂

Sorry if this is obvious but where did the third wire for the pigtail come from? And when bonding the copper wires, when do you stop the bonding and what happens to the remainder that doesn’t come out of the nut hole? Thanks! Great video overall.

Be careful of how the wiring is protected. If there's any sort of fire insurance may refuse to cover it.

Thanks for your very detailed videos. What if i want to replace my existing switch (light only) with a switch and electric outlet in the same box (second example in this video), but i dont have a ground wire in the box? Also, what seems to be the neutral wire is just running in the box but not currently connected to the switch?
@handydadtv
@handydadtv 2 минут бұрын
Even if you don’t have a ground wire, you may have a grounded metal box. But if you don’t, you should consider upgrading your wiring. You need a neutral to add an outlet. I don’t have a video on how to identify a neutral but I’m sure you can find one. Don’t always assume a white wire is neutral.

Thank you for the review. I have been wanting to get these lights and with the deep discount after Christmas I just pulled the trigger on the govee 2 in 150 feet. I am an animated Christmas light guy and am very familiar with cutting wires and soldering thus i bought the gen 2. Really looking forward to having these on the house all year.

This is also helpful because every year we put our decorations up in the attic for 11 months, and through a whole season of hot weather the batteries usually have leaked or died by the time we get them out next year.

Where is the battery? Does it need a special charger? How long does it take to give it a full charge? It cant get wet?? If I missed any of this information while fast forwarding through the mowing part, please let me know. What is the cost of a new battery?
@handydadtv
@handydadtv 46 минут бұрын
The battery is under the hood but it’s not “removable”. If it ever needs replacement, a service dealer would need to do it. No idea what it would cost. Half the price of a new tractor? Yes it has a special charger. I showed that in the video. Charge stats may be on the website, but I took it from 26% to 61% in 90 minutes. I never drained the battery to time a full recharge. The manual says not to get it wet. I didn’t make that up. Probably written by lawyers. FWIW, I used it in the rain and didn’t get electrocuted.

Great work. I have found my peace with rechargeable Eneloop batteries. 21 years ago (!!!) I bought 48 AA and 16 AAA cells. With a storage box and 8-way charger. (All together it cost about $200) Eneloops do not discharge, the whole family has got used to it, puts the empty batteries in the charger, the charged ones in the box and I have not bought such a single AA/AAA cell for over two decades! With all the children's toys the battery consumption is extremely high, I would definitely pay $10 a week for disposable batteries. In 21 years I have easily saved $5000.
@handydadtv
@handydadtv Сағат бұрын
That’s a great story! So I see Eneloops are rated for 2,100 cycles. Have you needed to replace any in those 20 years?

I would agree with staying away from Genie products! Their customer service is awful in that their English is unintelligible and liberally sprinkled with heavy sighs! They refused to replace the wall console on a brand new opener with purchase receipts, etc. They wanted a written service report from the installer to document the problem mailed to them! During Christmas break? How long will that take? 3-6 from the time they receive and process the paperwork! We're taking it down and getting our money back!

I like this. I think I would have kept the battery box and drilled a hole in it. Then fed the wire through and used the battery terminals to wire it. That way the switch is still useful and it can be reversed easily.

I did the same set up. Took me days to go around my mom’s house. Had to go around plants, trees, windows. Went around the chimney with the supplied extension cord. Went to turn everything on last night. A quarter front part of the house, wraps to the chimney in a 7 shape, that part didn’t light. So now, I have to go back & find my error. I think I have one more set of complete lights that I’ll check & see if the reach is there, if so, I’ll connect those & see if they’ll make the connection… other than that hiccup, Merry Christmas. Thank you for putting this out.
