The latest version of the AeroScout S 2 1.1m ( seen here: horizonhobby.cc/aeroscout ) now includes this more durable metal-geared servo for the rudder and nose wheel steering...which you can also use in place of any of the other servos in the model: www.horizonhobby.com/product/13g-sub-micro-metal-gear-servo/SPMSA392.html PLEASE NOTE: Not all servos rotate in the correct direction which could result in SAFE reacting in the OPPOSITE direction causing a crash!! Also, some servos may not fit in the mounting space and/or work well with the gain settings for AS3X/SAFE. That in mind we strongly recommend ONLY using the servo linked above if you'd like to upgrade to a more durable servo!

Just replaced my nose gear and rudder servo with the upgraded 13g metal servo after a crash where it stripped out the plastic servo. Thank you for the info! Plug and play install and a nice upgrade as well

Some one on you tube said one of the differences between analogue servos and digital servos was when an analogue servo will give out a buzz when stalled or overloaded , where is digital servos often buzz for any reason and may not have a problem. GREAT video

This guy's narration (and voice) is excellent on this repair. The video of the small space where the servo goes is marginal (too dark). As I pan through all the comments and questions, I noticed Horizon Hobbies does not respond to anyone. Some people are even asking for "where can I get such and such parts?"...no guidance from HH whatsoever. HH really does themselves a disservice (lousy customer service and marketing) by not putting someone on staff to address video comments about their products.

Good info, when replacing a servo, if its in a tight spot i will use some small thread/string and tie to the servo plug when i unplug it, then it comes out of the servo slot. I untie it then tie the string to the new plug then use the other end to pull the wire back up to the RX. this is really helpful with doing aileron servos and or servos in the rear of the fuse.

I have rc boats too. I place 1/32 piece of ply where thing get to tight and also use velcro.

How do you take the wing servo out?

Just bought my Aero Scout a few days ago and found out the left wing aileron isn’t working. I’ll be bringing the plane back to the hobby shop tomorrow to replace or fix🙁

Thanks for the video. If you tie or tape a string to the servo lead before you pull it off then you can use the string and tie it to the new servo lead and fish it back through.

Great video,,very useful,I'm a complete newbie to the hobby, ,so I'm looking for a bit of help and advice , I've just bought aeroscout and unfortunately on my 2nd flight, I crashed into tree,, my problem looks exact same as yours,,flap servo gone, elevator working, it is going up and down but if I move left or right, should flaps on wings also go up and down, I've no movement on them at all? Any advice is very much appreciated

I have the same issue after a less than soft landing. Would suggest a magnet coupling on the front wheel control arm or something similar to prevent this servo from dying prematurely. Love the plane!

Is the aeroscout compatible with any other servo besides the a390?
@SlorideI204 жыл бұрын
Can't find the s390. Same servo that was changed in this video. What is the equivalent?
@rb52354 жыл бұрын
The servo is a A390 part (SPMSA390) it's $8.99 you can find it on the AeroScout page under Parts & Accessories tab. It's not a bad idea to order 2 b/c that servo goes out easy with a good nose bump to the front wheel or fuselage.
@SlorideI204 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ron. I just found it at Active Powersports. It didn't show up on a Google search. I just came across it by chance. I would upgrade to one with metal gears if I knew the part number. Thanks for your response.

My out of the box elevator servo only moves about 5 degrees with full stick deflection. What might be the cause of that?
@jeffjorczak3 жыл бұрын
Solved: I had to map channel 6 (panic) to a switch, as it was defaulting to on and this restricted elevator movement.

Hello Horizon I got my new fuselage in the mail thank you so much, I got everything installed except for the receiver as the Balsa floor cuttings are different. It would be great to show how to install receiver on a new fuselage. On the original mounting it used for small screws underneath impossible to do on the new aircraft

Would u technically be able to fly without the rudder and wheel servo?
@HorizonHobbyProducts3 жыл бұрын
Possibly, but not likely or guaranteed! The replacement servo you need is $8.99 and in stock in our US warehouses...it's better to not risk it and to wait a few days to replace it: www.horizonhobby.com/product/8g-servo-aeroscout/SPMSA390.html

@@HorizonHobbyProducts I went ahead and flew it with the servo disconnected and it flew fairly decent. Some of the turns were a little awkward but totally doable. I will be getting a servo though 😆
