Replacing a tubeless motorcycle tire on the road

In this video I replace a Mitas E-07 Dakar with a Mitas E-10 Dakar using just the tools I carry. This is a skill all riders should have.

As a newby at changing tires, I'm a little confused. How did you seat the beads if the valve stem was not in place? Otherwise, I learned a lot. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

Generally I’ll air the tires without the valve core to seat the bead (2 pops). Then I’ll install the valve core and air the tires to the required pressure. The valve stem itself is never removed from the wheel.

@@BlackdogADV Thanks, I meant the valve core. So it is no problem if the air comes back out the stem after the beads seat?

No problem, I was taught that method years ago long before tubeless tires. Either way you’ll be fine.

Thanks very much for this, I run similar tires and that's a great vid. Just a note on the tires, I used the E10 once but found it didn't last very long. I phoned the Mitas rep in my country and he gave me heaps of advice on tires and pressures and recommended the E09 for the rear. I have that on now and it is doing about twice the mileage of the E10 and I haven't noticed any loss in performance, it's actually slightly better off road. Also, what compressor did you use to pump up? Would be nice to know if the portable compressors work when in the middle of nowhere. Thanks again.

I can normally seat the beads with a shop compressor. To seat it with a portable compressor would be difficult although I’ve seen a few guys do it using different methods with success.
