Replacing a welded trailer jack on PJ tilt deck - Can't believe what I discovered

Replacing a welded trailer jack on PJ tilt deck. Time to do some maintenance on my PJ tilt deck trailer, including replacing the old jack and greasing the pivot points. Once I got it in the shop I couldn't believe what I found.

I'm like you. That crooked coupler would drive me crazy. Anything that's not parallel, plumb or square bothers me. It may not be enough that anyone else would ever know, but if I know it, I gotta fix it.

You did a lot of work on that jack I have the same old jack you took off all I did was contact the company that made the jack and ordered the bearn for it and works like new your bearn was gone out there at the top of the shaft.

The hitch being straight with the center of the axle doesn't matter. What does matter is that the distance from a specific point of reference on one side of the front axle is the same as from the same point of reference on the other side of the front axle and that the axles are parallel with each other.

The ball is the pivot point. Meaning your trailer isn't going down the road slightly sideways causing wear to the tires. Being off center like that, the only thing you may notice going down the road is that the trailer may ever so slightly be a little more to the right of the truck. Probably not noticable by just looking. My guess you would have to measure to even notice the difference. If it bothers you then cut it off and get it straight. But as far as towing it makes no difference what so ever.

The axels were aligned after the trailer was assembled…I wouldn’t touch that hitch

Agreed, like having the jack too close to the coupler so you can't drop your tailgate!!!
