Replacing the blower motor and blower motor resistor in my 1995 chevy k1500. Wasn't too difficult to do. The resistor was the hardest part because its such a small space to work in. I say "um" and "uh" about 100 times, so ignore that if possible.

88,89,90,91, possibly more years, blower motor is prevented from coming out by lower edge of dashboard. You mention that.

Thanks for the video. My chevy 1990 model had a blower motor bearing gone bad and after I put the new blower motor in, it only ran on high.... btw, would that hurt anything running it with a messed up resistor?
@black91silverado82
@black91silverado82 Жыл бұрын
I dont think it will hurt anything. It's just making the blower motor run on high only. The resistor is just there for your other speeds

the two connectors on the blower motor, do you know what the white one is called? I need to replace it but every time I try to find it I only get the black connector.

My blower motor went out. Gonna replace it. Should I change the resistor as well while I'm in there?
@black91silverado82
@black91silverado82 3 жыл бұрын
It's not really necessary to change it unless it's causing an issue. It is a cheap part though and easy to change so you could change it out for peace of mind

There is constant power to the blower motor resistor. You have s problem where the switch or blower motor resistor is bad

The actuator is stripped out and it's for the recirculation door. So I just used something to keep it closed so it's always recirculating the cab air lol

There's no room in mine to get the new resistor in without mangling it, you skipped over the hard part
@black91silverado82
@black91silverado82 2 жыл бұрын
I showed getting to the resistor, but did not show actually removing it. It is difficult to remove, but with a 1/4 inch ratchet and shallow socket it is doable. I have large hands and was able to get to it without too much fuss. If I had a spot to setup my phone to record better, or if I had another person recording then I would of shown actually removing it. Sorry for skipping that

I had a question my ac and heater not working at all so that should be the blower motor ?
@black91silverado82
@black91silverado82 2 жыл бұрын
If its not blowing any air at all then it could be a few things. The fan speed control could be bad. The blower motor could be bad The blower motor resistor could be bad Or you could have a blown fuse/relay. I would start with the simple and cheapest thing which would be the fuse/relay. Then probably work your way to the blower motor. You can test the connection at the blower motor to see if its getting power too. If it is, the. The motor is bad.

@@black91silverado82 hi, my ac/heat blower area makes a thumping noise after I shut off engine. I heard it could be a vacuum pump?? What do u think. Thanks
@black91silverado82
@black91silverado82 Жыл бұрын
@Sewing is Life I've had mine do that on my 91 silverado and it was the blend door actuator that's around the blower motor area. I believe replacing it is difficult, so most people...me included...have just unplugged it. That actuator is usually the one for recirculating the air in the cab or allowing fresh air in.
