Replacing Compressor then finding what killed the old one (day in the life of an HVAC Technician)

In this video we replace a Goodman compressor then, track down the issue that killed the old compressor.

In 2001 I bought a 20 yr old 1700sq ft. house in climate zone no.2 By 2003 the original HVAC system was no longer efficient. So I purchased a supposed top of the line A. Standard HVAC system complete with new attic ductwork at a cost of about 6300. By 2014, the system had went through 2 capacitors and the compressor was shot. All this while still performing the required annual maintenance on the system. So I purchased one 8k and one 15k window unit and placed them on windows in the back locked away from the nosey HOA women and called it a day. $700 vs 10k for a new system. If you get 10 problem free years out of a HVAC system you're lucky. They're designed to keep you in debt.🤔

Yep, they’re just like anything else, though, you can buy a moped, or you can buy a Cadillac, they both get you from A to point B.

For me this is a one man job, so I like to know what you charged for this job to cover three men

This is normally a one man job, but this is a slow time of year, and we would rather take it out of the company’s Bottom line, and let employees help with a compressor. Change out, rather than letting them go and, the third man was just the boss who stopped by to see what was going on. The extra help didn’t raise the the price

Sorry guys, your installation practices are lacking. That was a terrible compressor removal and installation , guy using the torch overheated all the fittings. That new unit is contaminated for sure.

I can only improve from here. I never said I was perfect. My goal is to improve everyday.

however; the only 2 fittings that I am worried about overheating are the two on the compressor because there is no real way to "overheat" the others because I was flowing nitro and, cupric oxide cannot form without oxygen. I would rather risk a little bit of cupric oxide build up on this unit rather than not ensuring the bell is full of silver alloy because, its a piston system. if we run into any issues than we can clean out the screens and, the rest will get caught in the filter drier. I'm definitely not saying
