Replacing Distributor on late 50's Chevy Inline 6 (235): ||Andrew's 59 Apache 3100||

Hello Everyone,
Welcome back to AMAGarage253! In this video, we are going to try and see if Andrew's 1959 Chevy Apache 3100 will fire up with a new distributor and a little elbow grease. Changing out the distributor is a very simple task that anyone can do.

Thank you for sharing. 235 common issue. things you need to do is to put the gas in a spray can so you ca spray in the carburator, because pouring gasoline like that is not good and gonna flood the motor. second thing you should play with the distriutor while crancking the engine to find a good firing degree. lastly, make sure the sparks goes on at a comprasion stroke, not exhaust stroke.

Nice video. I have a 58 apache 3200 going to change distributor on it. Can you tell me how to hook up the vacuum lines for wipers

Thank you for your comment. The vacuum lines for the wipers have two lines I believe. One should be coming from the fuel pump and the other from the intake manifold. I am not 100% sure but hope this might help you with a starting point. Thanks again.

You need to reset the distributor timing.

You never pull the cap off The distributor and turn the rotor bug in the position to number one

i have a 1950 chevy with 235 6cyl its also been converted to 12 volt system ,,it has a ceramic ballast mounted on the firewall ,, now if i go to the electronic ignition and remove the breaker points ignition DO i unhook the wires from that ballast regulator or leave it hooked up ????? first time trying the pertronix

Hey, thanks for the comment. I cannot answer that question. We are both learning as we go on both of our trucks, especially being the first complete rebuilds that we have done on older vehicles. Looks like it is out of time. When you changed the distributor. Did you get the gears right. You don't need a bigger battery you need to check if you have oil pressure. No oil pressure lifters will not pump up and valves will not open properly.

I hope this helps you need to time the distributor. Pull valve cover and see if valves are opening.

Mate your engine is not even misfiring Remenber 153624 Firing order. check your coil. It should start. those engine aare very easy

Thank you for the information and comment. We were able to get it running after adjusting the distributor, which we uploaded another video showing he truck starting up and running. I have to say I was pretty excited to see it fire up and run!! We appreciate the tip and support and will remember the firing order for the future. Thank you.
