Thanks for video. I reset my timing to 6 degrees BTDC and my engine runs great

Where do connect the tachometer, where do you plug the vacuum gauge? Newbie question sorry.
@Lugnutz65 Жыл бұрын
Tachs usually come with some instructions, but the basic principal is this: There will be one wire that connects to the negative terminal of the ignition coil. There will be another wire that connects to the positive terminal of your car battery. Other wires might be used as well, but the tach is detecting every time there is a discharge from the coil. Most tachometers have a switch so it can accurately read RPMs for a six cylinder engine, eight cylinder engine, and even a four-cylinder engine. Make sure the switch is at the correct place. You want to measure the engine intake manifold vacuum on an Chevy 230 at the intake manifold. You can usually use the port that’s near the carburetor. It often has a plug with a square head. Just remove the plug and use the appropriate fitting with a nipple so that you can hook the vacuum gauge tubing to the nipple.

I noticed you have a power brake booster. Did you change your drum brakes to disk?
@Lugnutz65 Жыл бұрын
Yes. CPP front disc brake kit with 2.5” drop spindles. Then swapped in 3” lowering springs at the back of the truck. The brake booster I chose allows room for my original air cleaner housing. lugnutz65chevystepside.weebly.com/power-brake-booster-page.html

Is there a resistor for the wire going to the + side of the coil? Didn’t see one on the side of the coil or on the firewall

Another time you can add a degree or two, if you are at altitude.

I have a question, i hope you can answer, what is the (coolant temperature )normally with moderate Acceleration ?????
@Lugnutz65 Жыл бұрын
Coolant temp should stay pretty much the same temperature (after warming the engine up fully) as long as your thermostat is working properly. I use a 180° thermostat.
@Phillip-id9rk Жыл бұрын
@Lugnutz65 hey thanks , I purchased a new temp gauge but it is still working like old one , it still reads 265 F so I'm not sure if I'm not installing it correctly, This new gauge does not go back down all the way after it has cooled down . Does the section where you screw into block go on a particular way ???
@Lugnutz65 Жыл бұрын
@@Phillip-id9rk Mine reads the coolant temp at the front of the engine in the thermostat housing.
@Phillip-id9rk Жыл бұрын
@Lugnutz65 yes mine too front left , I have excess cable from block to gauge panel, and I do have cable excess coiled up together will this affect the reading
@Lugnutz65 Жыл бұрын
@@Phillip-id9rk Hmmm. I don’t know. I use an all electric temp gauge.
