Update #2: I followed the DTC troubleshooting tree (will have videos and stuff later) and it may be the pigtail on the Ignition Control Module that is bad...or the control module itself! Ordering replacements now and will finish up the video with an update after install!

Thanks for sharing. I was able to replace a ground wire as I watch your cat removal video. Mine is a 93 LT1 manufactured in October of 1992 I’m interested in your OBD 1 computer connection. Is there a video that shows how you hook up your laptop to see engine performance? Thanks again.

Sorry man, But I did finish my 92 vette with the Optispark, And it runs great ... let it warm up, hit the throttle and she's back to normal...so new Optispark, top seal, coil, wires, plugs, water pump, belt, About 500 bucks latter, now to the brakes and yesterday had my new tires put on the stock wheels. I still think it's your computer..... it's not letting the RPMs to rev up, Check all connectors to your ECM, I would go for a new ECM $200 I think.... Good luck

I am glad to hear that your's was fixed with the Opti replacement! I honestly thought that this was my original issue when I started doing all of these videos! I will have the software and plug today so that I can hook my laptop up and see what it looks like in the software. It definitely could be the ECM (others have suggested this as well!) and that may be the next thing that gets ordered! Thanks for stopping by and letting me know what your fix was!
@deney542 жыл бұрын
@@geneyus6411 You don't need to remove the balancer ... they are two piece, just three bolts and slide it out, the main yoke stays on the crank, so I did not replace that seal, just the seal behind the water pump ... they say the whole job for Opti is 5 hours and if you clean everything and take your time, I could see 5 hours.

Would incorrect knock sensor from Camaro make the c4 spark knock and run hot

Hmm...possibly...the knock sensor will tell the computer to adjust the timing and could potentially cause issues if the knock sensor is not correct and not working properly

Alright everyone...update. I was able to connect the OBD1 plug and software. I am getting one consistent DTC - H42 in Module 4 (ECM) which is an "EST SYstem Error" When I look up this code, it is DTC 42 - Ignition Control (IC) Circuit (Shorted or Grounded Circuit) I can pretty much rule out an actual grounded hot wire or the car would not run (from the research I performed today and reading up on this). This does not rule out a bad connection somewhere between the ECM and Ignition Coil though. Additionally, this does seem to be an indicator of a bad ECM from what I have been reading as well. I may end up ordering a replacement ECM. If this does NOT fix the car, it becomes a real pain in the butt as I will have to chase down wiring and more than likely replace connectors in the vehicle. I also noticed when the data was being logged that when the car would misfire, multiple DTCs would pop up for all kinds of things from Oil Pressure, water temp, O2 sensors, ICM, etc which has me leaning towards a bad computer as opposed to just a wire connector being bad between the control module and ECM. I will order a replacement ECM and install that for the next video. Possibly have that one up by next Monday...stay tuned for more!

Do yourself a favor, on your next coffee break, try using the funnel the proper way! It seems like you were in rush mode. I've recommended that many times and never heard a complaint. Also you could have had your new sensor ready to screw in as you pulled the old ones, cut down on mess!
@Amundred2 жыл бұрын
I used the funnel...I just did not see the benefit over just filling up through the expansion tank. It does it the same way...but instead of pouring coolant into the funnel, you pour it directly into the tank. 🤷♂
@geneyus64112 жыл бұрын
@@Amundred Just filling your coolant up in the expansion tank is not bleeding any air. That's an air bleed specific funnel, not just any funnel,lol
@Amundred2 жыл бұрын
The one one benefit that I did like...not having to worry about the coolant overflowing and leaking all over the place. WHen not using the funnel, the coolant levels rise and fall as the car "burps" and you have to really be on your game to close the cap when the coolant starts flowing to avoid the overflow. With the funnel, that was not an issue as there is plenty of room for this.
@geneyus64112 жыл бұрын
@@Amundred When it starts rising like that, you should be done. Turn the engine off immediately and it will not overflow. You should also run your heater to get air out of heater core. Makes a huge difference in these cars getting all the air out or they overheat like crap. Then you take what's left on uour funnel and directly fill your overflow tank by the radiator and done! Nothing spilled,lol
@deney542 жыл бұрын
I used a Funnel too. It works just fine ... then start the car with the cap off and you can see the stream of fluid coming from the water pump and slowly fill.... it works for me
