Positive Lube axle spindles are fantastic, I recommend rotating the tire while changing the grease and you'll avoid blowing out the rear seal. I made it a point to use a different color grease every time, this way when I saw a color change coming thru the outside or small bearing, I knew that I didn't have any air pockets in the hub and it had 100% new grease back to front. On my Offshore Salt Water boat, I'd perform this procedure once a month. One tube of grease was enough to do four hubs. Being submerged in salt water and then put on the road is much harder on axle components than what an RV would ever see. You can purchase new hub caps with a removable rubber plug that will keep you from knocking out the old hub caps, Marine supply stores carry these

This was a VERY good and informative video. I appreciate you speeding up the parts that you did to breeze through the ratcheting stuff. I like that you paid attention to greasing all the bolts prior to install. Thank you for making this!

I enjoyed your video. When adding grease to the bearings using the zerk on the spindle, you have to rotate the wheel/bearings as you add the grease. If you don’t, you create a high pressure knot of grease in the rear/inside bearing where the grease exits the spindle. The grease will almost always blow through the seal.

How did you jack up your Trailer allowing both axles on one side to be free to work on? Thanks

I bought my Trailer NEW 7 years ago and there's not much left on it that I haven't upgraded or replaced on it. But I really enjoy working on my trailer it gives me something to do when we're not rolling down the highway. Just curious if you've Cat Scaled your trailer? If you RV full-time one of the best things you can do is Upgrade your Springs Axles and Tires! Stay safe out there.🙏🏻👍

We did CAT scale when we first got it, and it was roughly 8-9,000 lbs. We have changed a lot sense then, so I'm sure that it has changed quite a bit.

I am about to replace the equalizer and add wet bolts. Can you explain how you jacked up the trailer and supported it at the far ends of the frame? I see your jack stands, but the scissor stabilizers are not meant to lift the trailer. Did you place your bottle jack somewhere? Thanks

I jacked it up by the frame next to the axles using a bottle jack and wood blocks to raise the jack height.

I plan to change my leaf springs this year before we take off but it’s a 2013 solitude so I’m curious why you changed yours so soon. I also put the SRE 4000 System on mine last year. I can see your leafs are a little flat but man they for sure last longer than that.

So I noticed the wheel where on the other side. We have to change to the CRE3000 can i leave my wheels on the other side. We don’t have a tone of equipment. This would help us. Notice you left your one and did on side at a time.

Can't say that every instance is the same but you should be just fine to do one side at a time and leave the wheel on until it's time to do so.

How do you have your trailer raised for wheels to come off?
@wherearetherobinsons

A bottle jack under the axle. Then after I took the wheel off I used 2 jack stands on the frame one in front and one in the back to support the trailer while I did the job.

Great Video! Can you tell me why you chose to buy the Bushings, Shackles and Shackle bolts separately instead of buying the MORryde heavy duty upgrade kit and the U-Bolts?

Just Because at the time it was a necessary repair but had to be done as cheap as possible while still doing it right. We do plan on possibly upgrading in the future but for now it works great.

Had I bought the correct length shackles, it would have, but the ones I got were slightly longer, so it pretty much balanced out. However, I do plan on putting the original length shackles on in the near future because now, sometimes, the leaf spring comes in contact with the frame.

NEVER use the zerk fitting to grease the bearings. You easily risk blowing out the grease seal and destroying the brakes, Also you should have replaces the bolts with wet bolts and uses a cushioned equalizer replacing the stock one....makes a huge difference in dampening the trailer ride. Also you mixed 2 types of bearing grease...lithium and moly....this can cause a breakdown of both greases. Removing the bearings cleaning and repacking allows you to see if there is any wear in either the race or bearing then repack .

Partner I would suggest you never pack your wheel bearings like that. I pack my bearings every year and last year when I took the hub off I noticed it cracked and I would have never seen it by doing it your way. In my situation it could have been a catastrophic failure going down the highway. It only take a 20 more minutes.
EXPERIMENT: WARNING! Doing this to your Jack Stands will get you KILLED!
