Years ago, I made an electrolysis device to make hydrogen from water. I hooked it up to an old ford pickup truck, with worn rings and low compression, and probably a little gasoline in the oil. After about a minute of cranking the starter, enough hydrogen leaked into the crankcase that it backfired and peeled the oil pan open like a banana, blew burning oil all over the driveway, caught my whole truck afire and burned it down to bare metal. I told the fire dept that I didn't know what happened, it just backfired and burst into flames. I'm lucky it wasn't parked in my garage at the time.

Not correct. An engine does run really well without any oil at all. However, if you run an engine with no oil pressure, the bearings very soon give in ! The valve train is not in itself relying on oil for any functionality, and it does not "collapse". But the camshaft does not like to run dry.

I'm a US piston engine airplane tech. I've never seen this system installed but have been tested on it. In arctic climates some piston engine airplanes are equipped with a system that injects raw fuel into the crankcase at shut down. The engine is allowed to run long enough to mix the oil and gas. This results in a much thinner fluid in the case at cold start up, and the fuel evaporates as the engine warms. Cheers guys. I love your style.
