Hey man I’ve got almost the same boat mines a 93 sea nymph 17.5. It had a 2” thick transom. Wider splash well area that’s similar design to yours but more complicated to disassemble. This video gave me “blue prints” as to what I’ll find when I dig into mine more

got to do this to mine... looks like fun. in your situation I would consider getting an aluminum sheet and covering the outside as your new transom is going to be swimming in short order from all these corroded spots. Let me know how this worked out for you and if you would do anything different, assuming you got to use your boat by now. BTW a small 2 cycle kicker on the side there should do just fine, I would think. Thanks

Almost identical boat to yours, I was wondering if the new transom at 1.9" was any issue, or if you would have went with 5/8" board in place of the 1/2" if doing it over? Thank you; video was helpful in showing me what I'm in store for

Nice build. Electric trolling motor would be a good move for a lake but might not do much on ocean. Are you getting an electric outboard?

Hahaha thanks! Yeah...all I got so far is just a 60lb trolling motor so may have to look into something better depending on how it does

Yes I had that trolling bracket on mine also I'm putting it back on with new transome will hold nice 6 hp mercury no problem

Do not run an outboard without water hook up impeller damage can occur in 15 seconds.

Took my tank out and found my transom doesn't have a year... now to the same project...

Mine was swelled in aluminum in pieces had to use crow bar hammers took hrs chisel a piece at a time would not come out in large pieces then the foam same way unbelievable but now rebuilding what a job great video pretty much have same boat. Thanks for video

@@Jeff-ue1bl Yup I had the same experience. I also had a difficult time fitting in the new one so you might want to make it a hair less than the required size so it slots in

Hi. when drilling holes in the transom, they also need a protective agent. otherwise it starts to rot again

I used 5200 Fast Cure and it coated all the holes as the bolts went in

Since you went that far, you should have used marine grade plywood. In fact you could have gotten Coosa, which cannot ever rot.

I did use marine grade plywood. I looked at the pour in options and Cooosa but stuck with wood because I’m more familiar with it
