Replacing original G7 Midland antenna with Midland Flex Antenna (C646.01) for G7/G8/G9 models.

Replacing original G7 Midland antenna with Midland Flex Antenna (C646.01) for G7/G8/G9 models.
Basic electronic fixing skills required, don't do it if you have poor tools or no experience with soldering iron.
1. Turn off your Midland and remove batteries
2. Remove the 4 screws on the back
3. Open slowly. Two thin cables are connected between the two midland shells.
4. Heat and remove the antenna pin using the soldering iron.
WARNING: watch out with the soldering iron. Everything is plastic or electronic components, you may damage things.
5. Clean un the pcb, chinese soldering tin is usually cheap quality.
6. Solder to the pcb the black cental wire from the connector provided.
7. Solder the thin metal pin to "ground"
8. Check connections with multimeter. No short circuits needed between the black wire and the metal pin.
9. Close the chassis with the 4 screws. Watch out, don't forget rubber protections.
10. Insert batteries and check.

Una domanda difficile @luigidko7738. Le condizioni ambientali, la presenza di ostacoli come alberi e soprattutto l'atitudine rispetto a chi riceve non consentono di darti una risposta precisa. La mia impressione è che sia aumentata la ricezione, più che la trasmissione. In ogni caso sarebbe da fare dei test precisi, prima e dopo, con ambiente e condizioni costanti. Test che non ho fatto.

Io ho stagnato lì la lamella ad "L" collegata alla nuova antenna. Puoi collegarla a massa in ogni punto della radio ma quello è quello più a portata di mano. Al minuto 10:16 vedi che stagno su quella piazzola

I'm not sure, but looking ad the PCB images of a Midland G9, the antenna connection seems the same of the G7. So I Guess It Will work

Hi. I learned that med antenna will work for G9 too. One user reported that it doesn't fit perfectly well. Seems that the antenna has too much room and the radio won't be rain proof anymore. Hope It could be helpful. Cheers!
