I get to replace the front wheel bearings on our 2014 Subaru Forester. I do this work, not Outside on our Gravel Driveway, but In a Garage with a Concrete floor. There was even heat, if I needed it.

Just ran across your video today. I am EXTREMELY jealous that you removed that bearing with your fingers. Salt-free mechanics are SOOOO lucky! I'd like to know if you have serviced your CVT transmission in those 265,000 miles. If not, you're lucky in more ways than one. Nice attitude. Nice editing. Nice video. Thanks!

Well, Thank You for all of that, I just try to keep it light & fun. Watching others with rust issues, I feel very fortunate. NO, we have not serviced our CVT at all. We took it in to a Subaru dealer once when we had some dash lights and was told it needed a new transmission. A second opinion Subaru dealer said it was a solenoid or two. Told us to drive a while to see if the fault returned . . . it didn't, soooo? Thanks for watching. Hope I didn't just JINX myself ! ! ! lol.

Man, I love your videos! Very thorough and detailed. I did the rear wheel bearings on m 2015 Forester. This looks much the same procedure. Hope you get your concrete pad poured soon. Thanks

We do enjoy a good RoadTrip ! Our original MINI has about 10K more miles but I've slowed down using that car as much.

Thank you. Our speed sensors come out easily, but others have to really work at it. Just take your time and use lubricant if you have to. Thanks for watching.

we used to have 2014 Forester, all 4 bearing start to go bad around 80K miles. it started to make noise like if pavement is rough , and when in corner it made more noise since more weight was on one side of car. I have heard company called "Kobe bearing" faking strength test data. heard rumor it is related to Subaru's pre mature bearing failure. rear wheel shroud to cover disk was rusted together with wheel hub, since we drive in snowy , salted road. I had to destroy shroud to get them apart. we probably not buy Subaru again, planning to go with Kia, Hyundai next time with 100k miles warranty.

I don't know where you are but I have seen so many makes of cars in the north with rust issues. Look at a few of "South Main Auto Repair" videos if you want to see rusty vehicles. We are fortunate to live where we might get one snow event per year, an inch maybe. Good luck with your next vehicle & thanks for watching.

When i change my bearing the traction control light comes on...can you please help

My questions are: Are you using Genuine Subaru Parts? Did you damage the sensor wire? Did you put the sensor back? Those are the things I would start with. I would also scan the car for codes to see what it is telling me. I hope that helps a little. It can be a slow process, trying to find & fix the issue. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.

@@Mini-Driver the sensors are good bcuz wen I put back the damage one the sensors the traction light stays off....I guess maybe it's not genuine

@@jasondickson1950 Some of the aftermarket bearings don't get along with Subaru systems. Certain things I will only get Genuine Subaru Parts, others can be aftermarket, it just depends.

Hey Jimmy, our 2015 forester is vibrating from 20-40 mph under acceleration. I put in a low mileage driveshaft with a carrier bearing. Issue still persists. Now I am thinking it is the CV axles. They are not clicking though... one failed 60k ago and an aftermarket one was put in.... maybe thats failing? Ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings all good up front? I assume the likelihood of rear cv axles going out is rare as there is less flex? Car has 165k Thanks again, Collin

Thanks for watching. I put aftermarket axles (all 4) on once and will NEVER do that again. I know the OE parts are expensive, but worth it. I would even do one at a time if I had to. The non-OE parts started vibrating within months. The fronts were the worst and started vibrating quickly. I would even get used OE parts from a salvage yard before putting non-OE parts. Just my opinion though.

@Mini-Driver Thanks so much! I will go OEM, hopefully the new front ones solve the vibration. Have a nice weekend!

@@asgpu414 Hope that works out for you. Also, you could choose to pay the dealer for a diagnosis, and do the repairs yourself. That way, you are not just firing the "Parts Cannon" at the car. You may save money & time in the long run.

258,000 miles on a 2014 Forester? That was a surprise. I have 69,000 on my 2015, with the front wheel bearings just starting to sing. Thanks for the video!

@@Mini-Driver Do you periodically change cvt fluid?
@Mini-Driver
@Mini-Driver 4 ай бұрын
@@pancakes429 Thanks for watching. I have never changed or had the CVT fluid changed. I have been thinking about having it done, but I won't do it. I don't have the proper diagnostic tool for such a big job, I'd rather a Subaru specialist do it. I'd love for "MR. Subaru" in Carolina to do it.
