Exactly what I needed on the dock yesterday! Could not figure out how to reinstall the spring and as another viewer commented, the Lofrans instructions don’t deal with this at all in their instructions on how to load chain on to a new windlass. Thank you for this vid.

Thanks for this useful video. It helps with confidence when tackling a job for the first time. One thing that perplexed me when doing the job of replacing the finger was the presence in the kit of a part 945. Upon investigation I discovered that this should be used instead of the finger when the windlass is only being used with chain and not with rope. So in our case the finger is actually redundant as we do indeed only have chain attached to the anchor of our Jaguar 36. Thanks also for pointing out the correct way to install the asymmetric stripper, part 910. Ours had been installed upside down by the previous owner, or maybe the owner before that! All seems to function fine now. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for creating this video. This explains quite well how to orient the Chain stripper when reinstalling it into the windlass. The instruction manual does not cover this well and is is very easy to accidentally install the chain stripper upside down. Many Thanks! Though I think I know exactly where, it would have been a good idea to point out the areas where to grease the gypsy and cones as well. I just installed the Project 1000/X2 on my boat yesterday.

What’s is the problem if your lying chain out , then stop letting chain out to allow boat to stop and set anchor , yet chain still goes out while trying to set anchor ?

That would likely be a result of the clutch being too loose. Just need to put the winch handle in the top and tighten it down.

What if the chainwheel doesnt come off? It is completely stuck in my case
