Good video that shows the same type of mechanism as the Dometic 895 power awning we have. It took a lot of searching through awning change videos to find this correct one for us. I suggest that the model of the awning and description should be in the video title. You would help a lot of viewers with this style awning find your video. Thanks so much your video was very helpful.

Thank you for your step by step explanation. Very helpful😎👍🎯We lost the tension and experienced the “tornado” too. Thank the Lord no injuries. Going right now to figure out how many times to wind it for tension.

Glad I finally found a video that has the same tube and cap assembly as mine. Wasn't sure if it was spring loaded on the non motor side. I just have to do the whole thing twice. There is two on the front side of our camper. One over the patio and another over the outside kitchen. Why they did that is beyond me. Only about two feet between them

Can you not just remove the power side cap, and not deal with the spring winding at all?

I suppose it would be possible to do it that way. We found removing the large spring made it much lighter and easier to hold and move when sliding it on the new fabric. But thinking back on the project, I think it could be done that way.
